Seeing the interest in yesterdays auction (and incredible bidding), I'd like to ask you about something:

Would you people be interested in regular auctions, just like the ones that Ea&E are hosting, but in our town?

I mean to actually earn some cash for yeself, with reserve prices and all that shizz.

Whatcha think?

Yeah would bring, an atmosphere and its a good laugh, plus you can rid of pointless things :)

I'm up for it as long as there are some standard rules and whatnot. Some of the bidding last night was pretty silly (silly as in funny, not stupid), hehe  :D

Yes of course, Zoie. Like defined minimum bid increase and stuff like that.

Why not use the town hall instead?

Yes, it is an option, of course. I'm asking about idea rather than a specific place.

While I don't think it warrents its own building, regular auctions would be good fun.

I never get to play therfore my opinions may not count. I second the motion for auctions but these will be IC of course? or rather for geting rid of the "strange" things in yer attic like glowy armor bits and flamer swords??

I vote Yes, and agree with Hoagie also. It is good fun (although I didn't attend last night's auction, but have attended RP auctions in the past), and it is a good way to get some money into the Barony's coffers ;)

However, if I remember correctly, the idea was thought of about a year back, and was started up, but attendance was poor pretty much all the time :|

I think it's a great idea although I think the whole thing should be in character.
Ofcourse any item could be sold, but we'd have to be in character about it :)

Ornament of the Magician - This nice erm, blue-ish bracelet...

Ofcourse the auctions are meant to fully comply with BoC rules. IC only.


According to the above, this won't do.

Techincally, if it's not to unorthodox, it might grow to become somewhat big if selling magical items, while in character of course. It might turn more into just that and people might just stop putting up RP things or normal items if people save their money for the big magical things.

i love the idea but i agree with having no magical items... it would ruin the IC atmosphere and stray blues will undoubtedly come and ruin things if that started to happen methinks...

Having it in a Private building may solve that? Just allow RPers in and it should be fine.

And I wouldn't think the selling of artifacts would ruin the atmosphere, just do what Moraine said, that's a pretty nifty loophole !

Obviously if the Auctioner is like 'Seelin dis arti has 20% EL AR SEE and liek +2 stam its 1337!!11oneoneone' then that would be pretty disasterous  :P

I think that selling such '1337' items could create another place of interest for the criminal element: the black market. Having this, regular players like soldiers or civs (hell, or even churchies) could come disguised and sell/buy such stuff. More to RP! Of course, with common sense at all times.
