Title: Scout Task: Winter Uniforms
Post by: Jenifer Feather on December 03, 2009, 12:42:52 pm
Bah, Looks like snowfall again this year.. Seems were going t obe sticking out like sore thumbs ey?! Best get the lads and lasses ter sort that out!..

The Task:

Since the snow is going to make our uniforms stick out horridly we are going to need some winter armour. Now.. Remember, this armour needs to be warmer as well.. So think of some ways of adding that into the set up.. Dont want to be shivering when you're hiding under a holy bush for nine hours.

Place your ideas under this and the best uniform suggestion will get their uniforms made for the squad. If no-one enters, we will simply dye our uniforms a lighter colour.

Just for clarification, are caps/kilts/sashes to be kept in the design?

* picks up the designs Vaughn had created *

Hmmm....

* writes a note and attaches to Vaughn's sketch *

I think I like these designs, maybe dye the boots to match the rest. We could even go with fur boots as they would be warmer.

Explanation:
Basically what I have done here is put together a uniform that is made of a thicker material that better insulates for the cold conditions without sacrificing any flexibility for the Scout. The Cloak gives added warmth as well as an extra way of camouflaging oneself in the snow by giving the Scout a white canvas to hide behind.

The Color used for the uniform was derived from Plain plant pigment. Though it is possible for our scouts to get a brighter hue of armor I would recommend this as it is cost effective and in my opinion not half bad.

Overall:
This Uniform would not be hard to put together for the average scout and our stores could easily be supplied with them as well.

I Hope this uniform is what we were looking for.

Hoh, These entries are looking good so far.. Practical as well as attractive.. Just how I like it.. I knew I could count on my Scouts to not only be the best in the army, but the most creative. Hoorah. One note on cloaks though is that it is impractical to wear a cloak and a quiver at the same time.. making things a bit trickey.

As you see, perfectly camouflaged.

Yours Truly.

Unfortunately Raven, The Besiegers still have Grenadiers beat when it comes to Camouflage.

It seems the snow has started to fall! Any news on which uniform we shall wear? Can't help but feel a little vulnerable in my greens.

The uniform we shall be adopting is Vaughn Goodwills design! Congratulations.

I feel this uniform provides better cover for a wider variety of terrains. The mountainside AND areas where the snow has turned to slushy mud. Which happens.. a lot.

IF someone can commission these uniforms to be made swiftly, that would be excelent. If not, I shall have them made up late tomorrow evening.

Though if there is a way to make lighter, warmer boots, that are not too bright.. that would be a handsome addition.

What's the status with the new uniforms, I'm bloody freezing here! Why not ask the civs to make some?

Ive had a few made up.. Ive got mine on and its snug and warm! If you cant find me (because the uniforms are so well designed that I appear invisable) then find a civvie and get them to make you some! I should be about late tonight or early evening to dish them out to people who need them!

We badly need to get the new HQ up and running and then place items like these in there for access - before we all die of frostbite.
