Title: Compulsory Guardsman Duties
Post by: Raiden Morana on December 09, 2008, 02:36:26 pm
With the reforming of the Covian army it is expected that the following duties are carried out regularly to ensure the safety of the Baronship's inhabitants.

Patrols.

The orcs and undead need to be kept in check as always and any ogres, trolls and such roaming the Covian Shire are to be slain. Petty crime is to be clamped down upon and anyone acting suspicious is to be challenged.

~ Patrols may be done alone but are more worthwhile and enjoyable when carried out as part of a group.

~ Brief reports are to be posted in the Patrolling Log, though more exciting experiences may be posted as stand alone reports.

Guard Posts.

Sentry duty is still a staple of army life. Guard posts are often best employed on the limits of our borders; the Altmere Outpost in the West, the Vesper crossroads in the North, the ruins in the East and the Glenmores in the South. However it is also advisable to post regular sentries at the Town Gates, Barracks and when public events such as Markets and Festivals are taking place.

~ Guard posts should be manned by at least two sentries. If a greater force is available then why not send out patrols to investigate the surrounding area? Keeping those present entertained is a must. Swap jokes, enjoy a sing song, shoot a little dice or perhaps 'tax' those wishing to pass through Covian lands, if they look like they can afford it... Especially if they are Loyalists.

~ Sentry duties are to be reported on the main notice board (In Character Board).

Whilst hosting these events may not always guarantee you a completed duty mark in your admin profile they are a fun way to roleplay in between planned events or whilst waiting for more guardsmen to come online to do something bigger.

If you do host a particularly epic patrol or sentry and think the activities in your report are deserving then send a link to a member of Command and a completed Guardsman Duty mark may be awarded.
