Title: A Quest For Justice?
Post by: Raiden Morana on February 05, 2008, 11:27:36 am
Late Sunday eve, long after the parade a pigeon pecking at my window awoke me. The message it carried was from a relative of one of our recruits. He requested an urgent meeting regarding a matter of the utmost importance.

Is a Captain's work nay done I wondered as I tugged on my armour and made my way to the barracks.

His name was Kain. It appeared he was god uncle or summat to Justice, one of our recruits. Her parent's who had since been slain on some crusade or other had made Kain their daughter's guardian when she was a child and upon his return from these crusades he had sought to seek her out.

On his arrival in Cove, Kain made enquiries in the town. It turned out that the word he had received on his travels was true, that his niece had indeed joined the Covian army. This was something of a shock, though the gossip that she was less than the model guardsman was less so.

"She was always headstrong, even as a child." Kain mused.
"I learned from a sailor at the docks that she had taken it upon herself to head out alone in search of a child, lost and feared captured by savages from a caravan travelling to Delucia."

"That would explain her absence from the parade earlier this eve." I added thoughtfully.

"I've hired a mercenary to try and trace my niece's whereabouts. He will send a map of her location when he finds her. However I fear he and his associates will not be up to the task of rescuing Justice... The crusades have made me a very wealthy man and I would gladly pay for your army to..."

"Save yer coin. She's a Covian soldier, one of our own. We have a sayin' in Cove... No-one gets left behind. If she's alive we'll get her out."

"I'm glad to see the Covian army led by such fine men as yourself Captain."

I grinned a little. "Aye, but donations are gladly accepted."
"Let me have the map if your mercenary is able to locate her and I'll arrange a rescue party."

"I will... May I place on you one final demand?"

"Depends what it is."
I answered.

Kain nodded. "I also learned from the gossips in town that Justice thought highly of a Corporal Sanderson and was also... close... to a soldier called Trent? If she has been captured by savages it may help her having some friendly faces as part of the rescure party."

"Indeed so."
I said grimly.
"It's Sergeant Sanderson now and i'll see that she along with Trent are part of the rescue party."

"My thanks Captain. I will send word of her locations as soon as I have it. I will keep you no longer."

[ooc]The meeting with Kain and the whereabouts of the missing recruit Justice is ooc information and not general knowledge.[/ooc]

*A sealed note is placed on the Captains desk awaiting his attention*

Captain Morana,

Here is the information from my man in Delucia:

Kain,

I tracked the savages that hold a woman captive to their stronghold. It is the abandoned orc fort, close to the city of the dead, nothwards out of Delucia.

Below is a map of the area.

The savage garrison looked at full strength and it would take some force to rescue your niece if she still lives.

Attended by:

Kelly Sanderson, Sergeant. (leading)
Hoagie, Sergeant.
JT - Jon Trent, Watchman.
Azhaal Rhu, Guardsman Recruit.
Justice, Guardsman Recruit.

All I knew was that Captain Morana had requested Kelly and me to meet up at the barracks for a special mission and take along whoever else was on duty. I had a nasty feeling something bad had happened 'cos I hadn't seen Justice for weeks.

It turned out that she had fallen foul of some savages near Delucia while trying to locate and rescue a lost child herself. Captain Morana had given Sergeant Kelly a rough looking map of the area he thought Jus' was being held and once we were all gathered and armed up Recruit Rhu opened a portal for us to the lost lands.

As we stepped from the portal into Delucia we checked our equipment and Kelly lead us through the town gates and into the wilderness. We encountered a band of roaming orcs but they were quickly dealt with. As the map led us nearer to the savage outpost we could hear their vile singing and drums beating.

It sounded like they were getting ready for dinner and Justice was on the menu. Kelly sent me forward to scout the outskirts of the savage stronghold and i found a narrow path shaded by trees that would conceal our approach almost to the fort gates.

The quest for Justice.

We readied our weapons and Kelly led the attack. We were met by a savage patrol leaving the fort but they were as surprised as us and we took them down easily. Sergeant Sanderson ordered us to put on the dead savage's headdresses and we charged into the fort screaming and yelling as we attacked our foes and tried to locate Justice.

Wave after wave of savages came at us but we managed to beat them off. We found Justice tied to a chair in one of the ramshackle buildings inside the fort. She looked a little worse for wear and of course happy to see us. We untied her and held the building against a savage counter attack, they obviously didn't want to give up their dinner that easily.

When there was a small break in the action Justice opened a portal for us back to barracks but Sergeant Hoagie and I got cut off as a savage shaman froze us to the spot. We soon recovered but the portal had closed. The sergeant and I cut our way through the mass of savages and made a run for it.

Sergeant Hoagie decided he'd run faster without his armour so he stripped it off as we ran. Unfortunately his warcry only drew my attention to his flapping kilt. Eeeeewww!!!!

We made our way back to barracks and fortunately Hoagie put his armour back on. Kelly asked Jus' to open us a portal to Trinsic where we enjoyed a well earned drink in the elven quarter. In fact I think I had a little too much.

JT - Jon Trent, Watchman.

p.s. I think "I" deserve a medal after what I saw dangling about Ma'am.
