*Cracks out extendable baton* ^^

I think we've established in the past that police brutality isn't over here what it may be over there, matey. Shame to tar us all with the same brush ;)

I'm sure you're right. Maybe the police in GB use a different kind of baton! Or more hidden because of your CCTV cameras.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/police-accused-of-brutality-after-officer-beat-woman-during-arrest-at-nightclub-439351.html

That took me "(0.10 seconds)" to find.

Of course, one shouldn't generalize (as generalization often breeds generalization).

I'm sure one so cynical as yourself would not believe activity like this is common place in the constabulary. A very iscolated event; yes bad people get through, and as you've kindly shown us all, get found out.

I don't see where I have claimed that it was 'common place in the constabulary'. However, I would claim a lot more of such activity does occur without being discovered. It is very typical to think that, just because you do not see it, it does not occur or exist.

I have not said you have claimed anything as such, I merely said that despite such examples, I'm sure even one so anti-police as yourself would agree that these incidents very much are in the minority.

As always, things happen that we do not see; crimes are committed but never reported (Large example; domestic violence), and whilst unfortunate events like this do occur from time to time, the hours of work, appearance, and even badge numbers of officers make them easily traceable, and as such whilst these isolated events regretably do happen, once again I believe them to be very small in quantity.

Nor do I feel that I incited about having such opinions! Nor am I very 'anti-police, as they will protect me from the uproarious poor when I get my mansion.

Of course, as a general rule we tend to fight harder for things the less we know about it. As it happens, we both know very little about police brutality!

Good luck! Hope it all goes well.

I joined as a Special Constable for Strathclyde police last year, been active since May last year.  It's been great.  I worked at the UEFA cup last year in Glasgow which consisted of wagging the finger at Spanish people pissing in the streets.  Not surprising given the lack of public toilets.

I'm surprised you have driving tests, in Strathclyde we're not allowed to drive the cars.  Which doesnt bother me as I dont drive anyway.

One thing to bear in mind is that the official training will likely bear little resemblance to actual policing.  I remember one cop (female) I was out with screaming "Aye, come back and say that to my fucking face!" at some fleeing neds (chavs) who were shouting insults as as they fled a park.  They kept running - until one had to come back, realising he had left his jacket at the scene.  Numpty!

Also some of the cops can be a bit funny, especially the older ones.  I prefer working with the newer/younger ones.
