Title: Strange occurences
Post by: Kas Valentine on October 20, 2008, 05:41:06 pm
During the festivities last night I was called away from Cove to attend to Buttons (and later Railen) at the hospital. The former was suffering from a wound to his arm due to an unfortunate encounter with some Ophidians and the latter had been caught up in a fracas in town.

I was tending to their injuries with the assistance of a man from Trinsic, unfortunately I never introduced myself so his name escapes me. We heard a lot of commotion outside but carried on with our work, assuming it was just some revelers from the peace festival. Suddenly the doors were thrown open and a massive group of men shuffled inside.

Each one carried a torch and was dressed from head to toe in deep crimson, I believe the guardsman later came across them when I returned to town. Regardless I thought I'd explain what went on. They were not remotely aggressive, we assumed as much but they soon calmed us and began preaching something or other about the church.

I missed what they said since I had been taken by surprise and was mostly concerned with the safety of my paitents. Thankfully I managed to secure a tome which they left behind upon their departure from our building. It would appear they are some kind of cult, what follows is a direct copy of their literature;

Avatari Corruption
(author unknown)

"My brothers and sisters, for too long has the Avatari church exploited the good peoples of Yew and Cove. Whilst claiming to help the common man, they rob the poor with their tithing. Whilst standing for the virtues, they willfully act in a most dishonest, unjust and dishonourable manner towards those that do not accept the "truth" they preach.

Whilst burning wytches, they too make use of the dark art of magik, pretending that the higher being granted them these powers. However, the higher being long ago abandoned this world, and the church knows this! They serve no deity, they serve themselves, and want only to increase their own dominance in these lands.

And so I call to you my kin, question what you have been taught all your lives. Look deep into your heart, examine the church and it's deeds, and wonder - are these truly concerned with my salvation....?
"

As you can see the content is very subversive so I bring it to the attention of Command, the Church and Cove in general.

Be wary.....

This cannot bode well.

Regular Guardsman Kas Valentine.
