Do not be fooled by the creatures basic sketches, it paints my side of the battle in a bad light. Pray observe my own artistic representation of the fight and peruse the report that follows. It was a long and terrible encounter but I never felt as though he was getting the better of Cove. Well I say "never", what I mean is "once or twice".....

The beast kept escaping through portals whenever he was seriously threatened (or burned, as was often the case) so I've broken the report down into sections.

Cove gates; While outside the town the Orc simply taunted and made a nuisance of himself with all manner of curses and such like. I repaid him in kind and threw in a few bolts of energy to keep him on his toes and remind him that it wasn't a game.

The scorched jungle of Magicina; Running through his portal of escape outside Cove led us into the dense tropical region just west of the once proud city. Almost immediately the Orc took advantage of his surroundings and began to hide. Sometimes he would use his black magic, other times he would simply dive into a mass of bushes.

It was a constant trial to seek him out while at the same time trying to avoid the energy that blistered through the air from whatever hole he'd found to lie in. The bastard even wracked my body with sickness at one point so I was forced to pull away slightly, catch my breath and empty my stomach.

With anger rising in my throat I chased him down and fell into yet another portal.

A dark place; I cannot truly say where (or even when) the next destination was, all I could see was a faint blue glow and the shilloette of my attacker. This was more than enough for although something in the thick air seemed to prevent enchantments I could still work at the foul creature with my fists. He was quite an opponent when taken hand to hand but fortunately enough he again made the decision to transport himself elsewhere.

The roof of Vesper Mage shop; Why a creature as slow witted as this would travel to a place of such knowledge and learning was beyond my understanding, but nevertheless I kept up my efforts to thwart him. We battled from the arcane circles, their power flowing into our veins and empowering the enchantments we traded with one another.

I began to think I was getting the upper hand, but another gate opened and I soon realised I was mistaken.

An unknown Orcish fort; I had been lured right into the lair of his clan, thankfully it seemed we were alone so I wasted no time in following him up to the ramparts. Fire, frost and energy rained down between us but on both sides healing enchantments kept us on our feet. However, the Orc then retreated to his balcony where I was incredibly tempted to just run and throw him into the ocean.

He had other plans.

With a shake of his beastly arms he invoked the summoning of a water elemental which intially caught me off guard but I composed myself and made short work of it. The Orc grinned and seemed serenely pleased with himself before yet again opening a gate and dashing through.

The shrine of Chaos, Ilshenar; With a cackle the greenskin slipped away down the steps of the fabled ruins in this region. He came to a stop on a bridge over some lava, turned around and this was when I knew we had to reach some kind of an end. Whether it meant he ran in fear or fell to the floor, I could stand the situation no longer.

We fought long and hard, the heat rising from the molten rock proving a constant hindrance. But as expected when he was beaten down he managed to make use of the approach of a towering Balron and make good his escape. I persued him to the shrine of Sacrifice and lost him.

One thing and one thing alone in his rendition of events is true.....

We will meet again.

Veteran Mercenary Kas Valentine.
