Title: Covianshire Carnage Post by: Linaeus on March 23, 2009, 01:53:40 am When: Sunday March 22, 2009
Where: Covianshire's border with the Vesperian province of Vesparicia. What: Routine border patrol meets routine Vesperian sentry, devolves into brawl. Led By: Torrak Keres, Mercenary Corporal Before I get into details about who was there, I should probably clarify that I cinnae claim all of the credit for leading the battle. I divided our force into thirds, and gave three other people command of their individual squads. Squad One (Infantry) Raiden Morana, Commmander (Leading) Hoagie Grayner, Sergeant Kurt Alimar, Mercenary Kado Gael, Mercenary Valkur, Mercenary Recruit Daini, Mercenary Recruit Jane, Mercenary Recruit Squad Two (Skirmishers and Scouts) Torrak Keres, Corporal (Leading Skirmishers) Kal Shadowhand, Officer Cadet (Leading Scouts) Ludwik Bloodaxe, Company Pathfinder Faden Widlheart, Company Messenger Raven, Company Skirmisher Alaric Stormcrow, Mercenary Recruit Lucian Blackmore, Mercenary Recruit Squad Three (Mages) Mercy, Company Arcanist (Leading) Leander Le Blanc, Company Arcanist Iiphrin, Mercenary Recruit Elizabeth Martin, Mercenary Recruit As we were mustering our forces to do a comprehensive patrol of Covianshire, aimed towards locating and destroying the large group of Orcs and Undead that've been terrorizing the populace as of late, the Yewish Militia approached us in force outside the barracks. Twenty strong, they roughly equalled our numbers. Obviously, they were looking for a fight. They briefly entertained the idea of killing us (like they could, pfah), then mentioned that there was a force of Vesperians occupying part of Covianshire! I immediately rallied the men on the roof to get them away from the Yewish. We couldnt afford to suffer any casualties fighting the Yewish, when there were Vesperians to be killed. After amassing a force of nearly twenty men... (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c190/Warbringer/BattleSquareFormation18.jpg) We set out for Covianshire. As we were marching, we were cofronted by Vesperian Militia Captain Damien Bedford. He claimed that we had crossed the Vesperian border! Knowing this wasnt true (he had obviously crossed the Covian Border), we set about negotiating with him. (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c190/Warbringer/DoubleLinePreAttack.jpg) It failed. Within minutes, we were shouting "FOR COVE!" and charging headlong into the ranks of the Vesper Militia. However, our first assault was thrown back by a barrage of Vesperian spells and a squad of Water Elementals - demons tamed by the Vesperian wytches. Our second assault proved more fruitfull, and we drove the Vesperians from their positions, taking few casualties of our own. However, our victory did not last long. The Vesperians counter-attacked, again using Water Elementals, and we were forced to perform a fighting retreat back to a more central area of Covianshire, further from the border, where we regrouped and decided to let the Vesperians be. (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c190/Warbringer/Battle_3_22_09.jpg) Under my expert leadership, we battle the Vesperian invaders. For now, it seems that the Vesperian claim to...the temple where the Guardian Worshipers have committed most of their attrocities...is solid. If we intend to reclaim this portion of Covianshire, I recommend the Recruits work on their individual fighting skills, as well as their ability to follow orders and work as a team. Overall, the men performed excellently - but the sheer firepower of Vesper's mages proved too much, and we were forced from the sentry post. *Signed in what is obviously Abigail's handwriting, as though Torrak had her sign it for him to make it look fancier,* Torrak Keres, Mercenary Corporal Title: Re: Covianshire Carnage Post by: Raiden Morana on March 23, 2009, 10:53:38 am It seems the Yewish weren't the only ones ter get lost this eve. The bloody Vesperians think half the bloody Shire falls within their borders. They are nay the brightest of races that's for sure.
It was grand to see so many Covians rallying to defend our borders and if it were not for the Vesperian wytches and the unholy elementals the summoned from the abyss we would have run them off good and proper. However it's also apparent that we too have much to work on as a fighting force. Though with so many new recruits that is understandable. Let's see similar numbers fer the Corporal's training sessions eh? For Cove! *signed* Raiden, Commander.
