Welcome to Cove

I know you have been busy of late but the men are missing your company and leadership.  You have also asked me a few times of where I came from so this will be a small insight.

A simple patrol would not be a challenge enough for you so you are to head to the Sanctuary in the south of Yew and to make your way to the garden at the end.  Here you will find some of my kinfolk.

• You must gather at least 30,000. 10,000 of this will be your pay.
• You must take at least eight other Mercenaries.
• Arrange for some refreshments to be had in the garden.

The Baron's impromptu drilling at parade seemed to take it's toll on the men with several crying off the mission to follow.

Getting bloody soft I say.

Regardless, there was a duty to be done and although the band of mercenaries at my disposal was perhaps understrength for the mission we were to undertake, no-one said it would be easy.

We made our way to the cavern known as Sanctuary, home to Officer Cadet Aliryl. I nay make much to her neighbours and Captain Hoagie disliked her front lawn, infested as it was with all manner of beasts from orcs, ogres, titans, cyclops and worse but we battled our way through the never ending stream of enemies to the elven settlement where she was raised.


The fighting was fierce and desperate at times. All of us ended up on our arses at one point or another. Nay surprise when folk were usin' their bloody parade arms instead of proper killing weapons. Covian guts and determination carried the day however and thankfully Aliryl knew of a slightly less well defended route back out. Just as well as we lost a couple of recruits and Keres went awol too.

Those of use hardy enough returned to Cove with around 12,000 coins to share. Nay doubt those that went missing hold the other 18,000. *shifty eyes*

It would have been nice to take a full compliment of experienced mercenaries to Sanctuary and give the heathen buggers a damned good thrashing but all things considered I think we did well to get out unscathed, for the most part anyway.

The group did very well besides the trying to take the orc stronghold head on, which is never a good move.  The objectives were fairly met within the circumstances.  Though many of the inhabitants retook the gold that was taken from their fellows.
