Title: [RTR] Return of the army: Post by: Octiovus on May 10, 2009, 09:29:44 pm "Times had been hard for Cove. Endless pestilence and ceaseless wars had left the lands of the Baronship depleted, with only a few hardy soldiers and citizens struggling to survive. To worsen the situation, the Covian treasury was all but empty. The Baron's Court in conjunction with high command after long deliberations concluded that there was only one solution to Cove's woes: the army must hire itself out to the highest bidder.
And so it came to pass that the banners of the Covian army were to be stored away and to gather dust; their glory known only to the few brave men who still endured. In the place of the Covian army, the Covian Mercenary Company was established and soon set about the task of securing funds for the Baronship. Initially the Company only accepted small scale jobs provided by the minor nobility and burghers of Cove and the colonies, but with time, things began to change. Through their ferocity and ability to complete any task set before them, the Covian Mercenary Company soon gained renown throughout Sosaria. Fresh faced recruits began to fill the ranks, and coin flowed into the once empty coffers. Bloody yet well paid campaigns fought in Vesper supplemented by Trinsican gold have allowed high command the Court to reach the same conclusion: the Covian Mercenary Company under the leadership of Commander Raiden Morana has saved the Covian economy and perhaps even Cove itself. Therefore it has been decreed that once again Cove should buzz with the sounds of the army: the heavy trudge of Grenadier boots, the crackling flame of arcane fire, and the silent whisper of a Scout on the move. It has been decreed: The Covian army is REBORN!" OOC: BoC is a guild which has never been afraid to innovate. It has been this innovation which has kept BoC as one of Europa's premier roleplaying guilds for the past five years. Consequently, when the command team saw BoC stagnating we also saw the need to revitalise BoC by doing something new, specifically: the Covian Mercenary Company. While we were prepared to run with the concept for as long as it could be kept fresh and exciting, we saw it as ultimately a temporary phase. And thus, after many adventure filled and fun-packed months we believe the mercenary concept has reached its natural conclusion. While we understand that many players have joined and 'grown up' in the mercenary company, we believe that a return to the Covian army will offer opportunities old and new alike, with something for everyone. We encourage people to get involved and take a look over the squad element as well as settling back into the good old Covian tan kilts and caps. Have fun everyone, and feel free to direct any queries to myself or Raiden. Cheers, Octiovus & The Command Team. |
