Title: Madness
Post by: Railen Morana on August 05, 2009, 10:41:08 pm
She rolled over to the edge of the bed, tossing her cookies again. The poison that she had been hit with the night before was not strong enough to kill her, but there had been moments through the night and afternoon where she kind of wished it had.

In the morning she had forced herself to get out of bed and put on a smile for Raiden. He had enough on his mind with the war, and training a bevy of new recruits. " Im fine, its just a bit of morning sickness. Im sure it will pass."

The trouble began when two recruits decided to do some double fisted drinking of ale. When they were told they could only have one ale at a time, they began to get unruly with the Goblin staff. Angrilly, Rai slammed a pan down on the counter in front of them. Their starting of rumors about the staff which were untrue irratated her to no end. Already in their cups, Railen told Mizuho " They're cut off" as Kiran reminded her " We serve drinks, not drunks, specially with the church next door, hrmm?"

They tried demanding to be served, then went on to visit Swaggers to try their luck there. They came back a short time later demanding more drinks, which they were refused. They left, and came back in two of the worst costumes she had ever seen.  They could not be thought of as disguises, for one looked like a clown and called himself the Joker, and the other...a walking skeleton. She had thought breifly of giving them a piece of candy in a bag...but their annoying demands, same tone of voice...same body type, and even the same boots...gave them away.  They could take a few lessons from Kiran. He had fooled her earlier that evening with his clever disguise.

She asked for a meal to be packed so she and the commander could return home to eat in peace and spend some quiet time together. The pair of would be comedians demanding the food Mizuho was cooking for the Commander and Railen. Finally...she lost it. She told the officers in the Goblin to do something about these recruits. Kas sat on the couch, staring off into space as one of the men went into the bathroom. The man came out dressed completely differently than the one who went in came out.
Railen was not impressed at his drunken audacity. Never before had a customer entered the Goblin through the Privy hole, and she was reasonably certain none had ever left that way.

She saw red now, this mans audacity chafed her already raw nerves and hormonal disposition. " I QUIT!" She yelled, and slammed the door on the way out, leaving Raiden and the others to deal with the duo of troublemakers.

She fumed, sitting on the couch at home, arms crossed when Raiden arrived home. "You're beautiful when youre angry." he told her, as his lips brushed against hers. "Im sorry I lost my temper there." She sighed. " Did ye appen tae grab tae basket o' food?"  He looked at her with shifty eyes. "Err, Nae lass, I forgot it"  he murmered looking exhausted. A good meal at home would do him some good.  " I'll go back an fetch it. ye wait 'ere."

She returned to the Goblin to see Kiran, shooting at Franki, the other man already down with a bolt through his leg. Bolts were flyin as he chased them off, reminding them of the Commanders orders. Railen went inside for her safety and began to speak with Kelly when she turned to see Franki in the doorway.  She heard part of the incantation "An___ Nox" was all she made out before nausia rolled up from her belly, causing her to double over in pain and hurl all over the floor.

The rest of the night had been a blur...she vaguely remembered giving Pickles a report, and Kelly cleaning up after her. Mizuho brought her pack of food and sent her home with it, Where she found Raiden had fallen asleep waiting for her, lightly snoring on the couch. She drew a blanket over him, left a plate with a meat pie, a slice of cake and an ale on the table and went up to bed to see if she could stop the world from spinning for at least a little bit.

Railen finally succumbed to her husband's pestering after her health. She looked white as a sheet and was in no fit state to work. He knew her better than to believe it was simply morning sickness.

She told of the drunken assault on her and Kiran after Raiden's departure from the Goblin the evening before. Raiden scowled darkly. Such lawlessness would not be tolerated.

He set out from home some hours later to authorise arrest warrants and arrange for some bouncers for the Goblin.
