Title: Senaria Deveianteo Post by: Veldrin on May 30, 2005, 03:01:53 am Name: Senaria Deveianteo (more commonly Deveiant)
Age: 27 Race: Three fourths human, one fourth wood elf Origin: Uncertain Life began for Senaria inside a weary, unkempt wooden shack north of the mountains in Malas. Her mother, a bruised and broken half-elf lying exhausted in a pile of hay and rags, wasn't sure whether to call her new child a joy or a burden. Overcome with maternal love, she took the child into her arms, trying to decide whether to be happy, or heartbroken. Nearby, a pair of drow watched in somber silence. Many months earlier, the half-elf woman had been deeply in love with a human lord that ruled over a small province in Felucca. And for a time, she believed that he returned her feelings. Already married himself, the half-elf was his mistress, a servant in his court who was scorned upon by other humans. But when the half-elf told the lord that she was pregnant, any love for her was instantly pushed aside by concern for his political standing. Warmth was replaced with scorn. He told the half-elf that he didn't want to see the child anywhere near his court, or in Felucca, or he would kill it. He forbade the woman to give the child his name. Exiling her to the, at the time, mostly unexplored facet of Malas, the half-elf found herself alone. She was unable to call on her elven kin for help - the elves disliked half-elves as much as humans did, if not more. But the half-elf was not new to Malas. She held mysterious, and friendly connections with a family of drow that at the time had resided in Corrupted Forest. The drow reluctantly agreed to help the half-elf with the child she was carrying, and was soon to give birth to. But they moved her to a haphazardly built shack on an abandoned farm in northeastern Malas. The drow family was taking a large risk, helping the lighter-skinned half-elf and her child. An act like that could be considered treason in their strict society. Senaria, who at the time lacked a surname, was a well kept secret for sixteen years. The drow taught her simple magic, which she later developed into a fine-tuned skill. Her mother and the drow raised her well, with discipline and, though it's hard to believe coming from a drow, love. Senaria took a quick love of wild creatures, often wandering off to play with the hoppers that wander Malas. It seemed all too blissful, until another drow family, a political enemy of the drow that cared for Senaria, discovered their secret. Before the drow family could react, a small militia was sent to the farm. The drow ushered Senaria and her mother to run while they still could, and the drow would hold them off. The half-elf ran with her sixteen year old child to Luna, which at the time was still being populated by settlers from Trammel. Locating the moongate quickly, just as they were spotted by a drow scout, the mother and her child disappeared within the blue light. Moments later, they emerged near Britain. Both the half-elf and her daughter knew their caretaker drow were dead. Lolth is not a forgiving mother. The half-elf abandoned her daughter as they reached the city. Whether she is dead or alive now, Senaria doesn't know. Having let go of her mother some years later, she no longer entirely cares. Alone in a strange city, she felt clueless and paranoid. It wasn't long before she found herself coddled in the arms of an older elf named Agrad Deveianteo. Giving her funds she needed to support herself with, and the guidance she needed to survive in the city, Senaria adapted to her new lifestyle. Senaria and Agrad shared a home north of Britain, just south of a large swamp. Together for several years, they were eventually engaged, and some say married, but Senaria has never confirmed it. Regardless, she inherited his name, to make up for the lack of her own. However, there were complications, and times grew hard for the couple. After a violent separation, Senaria returned to Malas and bought a home in the mountains. She retained her ex-lover's name, not wanting to once more be nameless. She often doesn't reveal the last two syllables of her last name, shortening it to Deveiant, to conceal the name from those who may know Agrad. It's been several years since their separation, and Senaria has been on her own since, honing her magery and taming skills to become a more powerful being. She harbors a personal grudge toward most males, and a bitter spite toward those who have prejudices toward drow, elves, or humans. She sees all the races as evil, their societies close-minded and serving the rich. But she is open to the idea that there are some decent members of each race. An intelligent, understanding, and collected woman, she has recently joined the Covian militia, seeking a feeling of importance, and belonging. |
