As per our meeting agreement, here is my letter. You will already know the date, and around about time of 10pm. I headed down to the Covian Scout Tower, on the coast east of Cove to have a meeting with Aliryl regarding some important developments in cases that we had been working on, I'm sure you know which cases I speak of. I arrived at the scout tower, and waiting on the second floor as I had heard voices in the office upstairs, the voices continued for a while, seemingly to get more heated. I was curious as to what they were arguing about, however I only heard various bits of conversation, I believe it to be a personal discussion, perhaps about Kal's choice of "lover". It was then as I began to hear more of the arguement, that I heard the familiar sound of a weapon being drawn, shouts of pain, and peneration. I kicked the locked office doors down to find Kal Shadowhand stood over Aliryl's body, Kal had no wounds, Aliryl was littered with several stab wounds, each decorated in the green slime from Kal's weapon. Kal showed no guilt as I looked at him, he showed no regret when he left, uttering the words "Tell her to speak to me when she won't piss me off." He then left the tower, left her to me, left her to die. I tried my best to revive her, I carried her to the Covian hospital, raised the alarm, and stood by as "Pickles" tried to conjure up something useful from her book of wytchery, however all was lost. Her breathing had faded, her heart had stopped, she was dead. Perhaps it should be noted, that when striking an ally, a Covian, or Yewish Guardsmen with poison, it is always the case that we do not apply doses of poison which kill our targets, as that would be counter-productive. It is clear to me that Kal knows enough about the poison he uses to know that the dose he delivered to Aliryl was enough to kill her, a scout of his experience would know this. He calls himself the "Covian Viper", Commander, perhaps it is time that certain snakes, such as Kal (Or Kelban, as was his name when he worked for Kiran - Coincidence??), Kiran (Someone who would want nothing more than her death, and perhaps still gave orders to Kal.) and the rest of them were exterminated, before anymore of your loyal officers are killed. I hear that Kal is pleading self defence, to defend yourself as an experience scout against a college, is not to stab them with a dose of lethal poison, that you know will kill them. It would have made much more sense, in a case of self defence, if he had broken her wrist disarming her, or knocked her out with a sleeping poison. The intent was written all over his face, this was not self defence, this was murder. I do hope that justice prevails, Commander. I would hate for her murder to be in vain. Shunji. Dear Commander, I am Keiran Vale, I just recently returned to Cove after years in Nujelm working on my Medical training. Upon my return I was asked to come and inspect Kal to check his wounds and to also Evaluate his mental stability. I questioned him on his relationship with The Elf Corporal and asked him a few personal questions as well under the supervision of Senior Mela Arkay. Mental Stability: Standard Shadowhand does not show any signs of instability and is well capable of rational thought. However I was able to learn that perhaps emotional stress has been at work on his Psyche recently. Apart from being awkward with women I see no mental issues in this soldier. Physical Condition: Moderate Wounding Kal suffered from a few stab wounds to his torso, The wounds were sewed up by Senior Arkay and checked over by me the day after. The wounds were not self inflicted by the angle in which they entered. trace amounts of poison were found within them but was cleaned away before it could cause any harm. Professional Opinion: Wounds caused through Evading and Self Defense From what I learned about the night in question from Shadowhand and what I was able to derive from the wounds on his person, I would definitely say that he received these wounds while defending himself. Judging from his mental outlook on how he handles problems and his general lack of emotion regarding them I do not believe he would have assaulted anyone out of anger. I believe the general verdict on my part is likely a overstressed Scout Corporal attacking Kal out of mental anguish and Shadowhand defending himself as he has been trained to. Be the results lethal or not I think it is safe to say that any soldier in the army would defend themselves to their full potential no matter who it was who attacked them. I Hope this information is useful for you Commander. If The Army is in any need of my medical expertise please leave a message for me and I will be sure to respond. Signed: Dr. Keiran Vale Title: Re: [PR] Kal's Casebook Post by: Jassi Cowin on November 18, 2009, 06:48:08 pm Dear Commander,
I witnessed the death of the Scout Corporal, I was there when she died, she had multiple stab wounds that did not look like they were inflicted about by a man using self defense. Kal Shadowhands wounds were covered up and may have been self implemented, but he only had one wound from the looks. I had heard from a waywatcher who witnessed that the Scout Corporal and the Officer Cadets were engaged in a argument, and Kal let her have it. Self defense does not necessarily mean to kill her. There could have been possible solutions in this case, he could have tried to knock her weapn out of her hand and restrained her, but it looks like he went after her in full rage, and even used his poison on her. Pickles, the Waywatcher and myself were tending to her wounds. Torrak Keres had arrived later on but did not tend to her wounds, he stood on guard outside.. I was also involved with the arrest of the Officer Cadet. *signed* Jassi Cowin, Watchman Title: Re: [PR] Kal's Casebook Post by: Linaeus on November 18, 2009, 09:35:17 pm Arrest Report - Kal Shadowhand
Arresting Officer: Grenadier Sergeant Torrak Keres Person Arrested: Officer Cadet Kal Shadowhand (Light Company) Reason for Arrest: Suspected Murderer of Scout Corporal Aliryl Trefynwyd Witness Report: Waywatcher Daichi approached myself and a few other Guards at the barracks after a recruiting mission to inform us that the Corporal had been wounded and that she needed help immediately. We followed him to the Hospital, where we found the Corporal unconscious, suffering from numerous stabbing wounds. He reported that she had been poisoned as well. Not being very well versed in medicine, I removed myself from the room so as to not get in the way of those with more experience than myself. A short time later, Watchman Cowin came outside and told me that the Corporal was dead. I entered the room again to find Cadet Martin distraught, tearing through her spellbook trying to find a spell to solve the problem. After talking the Cadet down to a more coherent state, I left her in the care of those present and proceeded to the Grenadier Headquarters to rouse Juniors Delferium and Whalebiter for a search of the Scout Tower (see Delferium's investigations of the Light Company from several months ago for the location of said tower). When we arrived, we had some difficulty gaining access, but Waywatcher Daichi soon arrived on the scene and let us in. We performed a quick search of the Officer, where we found obvious signs of a struggle and the doors damaged from Daichi's forced entry. Daichi proceeded to explain how he had heard the struggle going on above him as he waited downstairs and rushed to see what was happening, only to find Cadet Shadowhand standing over the near-lifeless body of the Corporal. We briefly searched the office for clues, then left. It was mentioned at one point by Daichi that there may have been somewhat of a love triangle between Shadowhand, Trefynwyd, and Senior Scout Arkay. I ordered Junior Kazami to look into this matter, though it seems that Shadowhand and Arkay's relationship is long since discontinued. As we reached the Barracks after our search, Junior Summers approached with Cadet Shadowhand in tow, who proceeded to turn himself in for questioning and detainment awaiting his trial. Conclusions: Officer Cadet Shadowhand is responsible for the death of Corporal Trefynwyd. Whether it was self defense or murder is debateable. In my personal opinion, self defense did not necessitate multiple stabbing wounds and leaving her to die on the floor afterwards. Shadowhand turning himself in without a fight or even any attempt to hide speaks volumes to me; it shows his lack of remorse and his belief that he'll get away with it on the grounds of self defense. Given the evidence made available to me at this time, I can only conclude that this is a case of Murder. Sergeant Torrak Keres Baron's Own Grenadiers Title: Re: [PR] Kal's Casebook Post by: Raiden Morana on November 19, 2009, 11:37:43 am The Captain and Commander sat in the Baron's office reading through the various reports and testimonies submitted so far... After placing the last piece of parchment on the desk and taking a deep swig of ale Raiden looked at his old friend with a furrowed brow.
"She was no more than a girl. Looked barely out of her teens." "Mrrhmmm." "Although she may have attacked first, she wasn't great with a weapon. Her skills laid elsewhere." Hoagie nodded. "Kal's an experienced warrior. He could 'ave slapped the blade from her hand and knocked her off her feet without fillin' her wi' more holes than a second 'and pin cushion." "Aye. Each one laced with poison too." Raiden nodded. "In lethal dosage." "S'hardly self defence." Raiden furrowed his brow. "His lack o' remorse or guilt speaks volumes too." "Aye." "Wish we had more like 'im." Hoagie chuckled and took a swig of ale. "He'll hang fer sure." "Or burn?" "Or have his bloody 'ead lopped off." "Or all three." The two friends laughed grimly. "What a waste." "What an idiot." "What a damned fool." |
