Physical Appearance:

 Jemmy is fairly well-kept for his age and background, wearing a worn, slightly grubby shirt, and an ever-present black cap that never leaves his head. He's also fairly short for his age, coming in at just under 5'5". His frame is fairly scrawny, though slowly filling out, but he is extremely nimble and sharp-witted. While not unattractive, he'll never win any beauty contests either. He hasn't quite picked up the knack of shaving, and his face is framed with the beginnings of a wispy teenager's beard. The oddest thing about Jemmy is his manner of speaking, completely unplaceable to any accent or region.

Personality:

Jemmy is incredibly cheeky, and often big-mouths both adults and children. A natural slouch, he is often found leaning against a wall with his hands in his pockets, eyeing the purses of passers by. Naturally inquisitive, he has been known to follow people for hours to see what they are doing. He has no respect for authority or others, there being only two people he seems to care a bout: The Baron, and Mela, who he's grown fond of in a big-brotherly kind of way.

Background:

 Jeremiah Middlebottom grew up to a peasant family in Britain. The fifth son of a brood of six, Jemmy was often beaten by his brothers and teased by his sisters.

He spent much of his early life roaming around the streets of the capital, where he became an adept lockpick and pickpocket. He came under the wing of a gentleman of ill repute by the name of Cogan Darkwater, who trained him in the arts of the rogue, and Jemmy became an accomplished thief and housebreaker under Cogan's tuition. The thief also taught Jemmy how to use a dagger and Kryss, and how to sneak around unseen. It was during this period he gained the moniker "The Rat".

Upon Cogan's arrest and hanging when Jemmy was thirteen, the lad left Britain and became a scavenger, picking up dropped valuables and fencing them on in the major towns, travelling across Brittania and swiping whatever he could. Currently wanted in Britain, Trinsic, and Skara Brae, Jemmy has decided to lie low in Cove for a while, where he has convinced the authorities he is a "Peddler".
