As Celuvian has pointed out (http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=189858), the EMs are taking applications for people to recieve a town recognition banner type thing. I'm sure you all agree that this is totally awesome.

However, despite the command team's stunning good looks and athletic ability, we have the combined artistic skill of a startled marmot in a drawstring bag.

Because of this, we will be offering a bunch of cool stuff to whoever can design the best banner. The exact nature of these prizes are yet to be determined, but the chance to be the one to have designed the banner is pretty cool already, no?


From these guidelines, I assume we'll probably be going for the village or town banner.

They've provided the following pictures as examples of how big and flashy the banner should be. The second and third pictures are examples for Village and Town.


Your competition entry must include a picture of the banner, as well as the Inside UO (http://uo.stratics.com/heptazane/insideuo/index.shtml) numbers of the components used.

I love the Docks.

Theres a banner on Catskills which goes over the water so they might be able to get it working. Its also big like the docks here.

Btw this banner is HUGE!!! but this town is part of a bigger one so... they allowed it to be huge and the one that might of made it is "tight" with some of the devs and what not

It's not actually going to be right in front of the church is it?

I asked on guild chat if anyone had any ideas where we wanted it. People said in front of the church... apparently people had discussed it.

It has to go somewhere noticeable. If anyone has any other ideas I don't mind making it.

Hahahahaha. That's ironic. I remember back in the day, when United Pirates was a major guild on Catskills, the entire shard congregated in Castle British to demand they give Red Skull Bay its own docks.

...they never did.

Now they're giving the significantly smaller, less RP-oriented incarnation on a dying shard docks like it's nothing. :P

Lighthouse would be good thing to have. Also, I love Faden's docks design, though placing it in front of the Church isn't the most appropriate thing to do. :)

I thought there was a lighthouse sorta / guardhouse type thing in Cove.

The big plot behind the barracks, the one Keane currently owns (i think) would be perfect for BoC barracks for many reasons. Just go take a look. If a big banner could be placed there....like a small fortified battlements etc with archery buttes and places to put cannons or archers on would be cool. With a gate and a sign in station etc....I would love that. And a small dock sure:)

I just went for a quick run down the shoreline and counted 18 homes (not including several bare plots and one IDOC). My first gut feeling for banner placement would be outside the barracks. Or in Hoagies yard.

We like to keep the area immediately in front of the barracks clear, just as a matter of maintaining that space for use by the Army and for other events. That's why I'd say either on Llama Point or in front of the Church would be best.

Is there a time limit on when it has to be submitted?

Do we have any more ideas such as gardens, guillotine area etc? I tried the fortified llama idea, it doesn't work as you can't build a wall around the 18x18 there without blocking the sides.

No no theres space for a docks outside "keaneplot" and theres enough land infront of it to fit a small guardpost there too, Im pretty sure. (not talking very big her)

I have UO house builder, but can only customize house plots right? I havent checked on that tho, but I seem to remember you could only build house plots in HB not anykind of UO landscape....*shrugs*

I approve of this plan. Except maybe make the little cannon area less "Random wall" and a little more "Artillery emplacement".

Yes I did a few versions of the cannon fortification, can post up some more suggestions.

As I doubt mesanna would grant us a two floor lighthouse (like the one in lost lands) I have suggested a very simple and old styled one here. Hope you like it.

I like the second one. We'll probably be using the big building itself as the fort/cannon emplacement/watchtower anyway.

Well Ive been told that while the banner is on land the most they can build is like 6x6, and it has to be a banner and be a banner for purpose not for decoration etc.

But also been told that as long as the design is on the sea it can be bigger then 6x6 since it wont block land wich was the biggest reason people have been declined so much with their designs.

So basicly ill try to make something else with most of the stuff on the docks...and scrap whats currently on the land.

Can send the application no problem. Might wait it a day or two as other guild members may come up with their design ideas too.

So basically for maximum chance to get it aproved I designed it completely on the sea/docks.

We might even have to downscale it somewhat still, but so far its like this...

Oooh that looks excellent! I love the old lighthouse style building and the hanging crane (shouldn't it hang over the water?).

The flags don't look like our banner? Theres one which does? (Look at my previous posts). Just a suggestion :)

Yea the banner can be changed pretty easily, and imo I really dont like the crane, its too big and it looks wierd(even when its placed all the way to the edge of the docks) so I would like to take it out.

Anything else just keep the wishes/changes coming and ill try to do it:)

Hopefully correct banner, and I added all the number ID's to everything thats used here. (wich took a while!!!!) :)

Remeber that the picture must be "exploded" for a parts breakdown of what you used, they need to know where piece number 9678 and number 1542 go. You do all the work, they just put your puzzle together.

So it has to be more than a list of numbers.

Maybe that will be a project for next year, cause I wont be doing that anytime soon:)

I could do it if they say they'll build it if I do, but with all the declines lately I wont be doing that much work unless I know its gonna be worth it. (my time is limited)

So in theory we shouldnt be declined a banner on the land... Otherwise it would be very unfair.

Those are chesapeak and atlantic banners i believe. I think only a few if not any at all have been built on Europa so far.

But so are some very creative designs on there :)

We got our banner - Sergeant Rock. The rock outside the barracks steps. Its the only thing we could both convince them to give us and be bothered to put up with the work required to make.

ok update! got one email so far from Em Emile. Seems good so far just had to label all the numbers from the list cel had AND!!! you missed some!!!!! >_< but i got em :) just sent in the reply for it so waiting to hear back from her soon.

We aren't moving the Barracks. That'd be a pain in the arse. >:(

Well the barracks would be reendered useless, because basicly only one building would see activity on normal days, and that would be the one at the new docks.
