Title: A letter to Baron Octiovus von Richter
Post by: Leso Varen on July 11, 2018, 12:16:38 pm
My Liege Octiovus von Richter,

The other day, I was conducting an arts class when a number of the guardsmen present decided that the simple herb and flower components of the potpourri I was instructing them to make were "drugs".

They physically assaulted me and some of the other students of the class, beating and imprisoning us in what can only be described as a show of excessive brutality.

I was then escorted to the cells and threatened, eventually being relieved on what meagre funds I had on my person and left in the woods to die by a green clad guardsman.

Having committed no crime that they were willing to describe with any accuracy, I feel that this was little more than a shake-down by oafing louts, too dense to appreciate the culture that I was attempting to bring them.

I most humbly, bowingly and scrapingly make the following requests:

* Compensation for the gold that was stolen from me (4000 gold pieces)
* Reformed arrest guidelines where one can only be arrested for things that are actual crimes
* Prosecution of the green clad guardsman for assault and theft

Your devoted and humble subject,
Samuel Hagar

My Liege,

It has been some days since my letter, and I am disappointed to say that justice has not yet been served.

I must humbly repeat my request that the green clad guardsman be apprehended and punished and that I be reimbursed for the gold taken and injury inflicted upon myself.

Your humble servant,
Samuel Hagar

The Baron discovers the scraps of parchment on his desk, further into a goblet of Trinsican red than he was in previous correspondence. He furrows his brow and writes in angry flourishes.

Knave,

I have read dire reports of your activities in the Covetowne Gazette. Disorderly conduct will not be tolerated in Cove, this is a place of standards. For imprudence and improper appeals to Baronial clemency, you are hereby fined a further 2000 gold pieces.

My liege,

The vile miscreant Samuel Hagar was apprehended tonight by myself and Regular Grenadier Gimbly after he attempted to take a bystander hostage when confronted by the guards. The knave attempted to flee, but my arrow found its mark in his leg, allowing us to catch and incapacitate him. One civilian suffered a superficial wound, but no one but the perpetrator was seriously injured. In light of his assault upon your subjects, I have elected to imprison him until such time as he has paid both the fine you imposed and the fines for his most recent offenses.

*Signed Simply,*
C. Keres, Officer Cadet
1st Grenadier Regiment
