Recruit Arc's Trials
Part one - Collect Ten Thousand Gold Pieces.

I had just arrived at the Barracks for another day of.. hard work and after a click browse over the newest pin ups on the message board i noticed my trials were ready to be undertaken, so i checked my pack and set out to complete a task.

I noticed no other guards on duty were at the barracks or near by to help me, so i set out on my own to the dungeon of Despise, just north of Britain, to gather the gold.

Arc comes face to face with the Dungeon

I entered the cave and took the first flight of steps down into a deeper part of the dungeon, it all seemed pretty quiet compared to what i had heard about the dungeon, i could several "thudding" sounds ahead of me so i worked my way through the dungeon to find out what was going on, only to find the corpses of many two-headed giants.

Busy indeed...

I continued through the dungeon, still nothing but the large thuds ahead of me and piles of corpses everywhere though i did come across what looked like a swamp with a two-header stuck inside, it looked pretty beaten so i thought it better to put it out of its misery.

A "shocking" fate for the beast

I knew this was getting me nowhere, i had been here for a while now and still no gold so i began searching the bodies of the already slain beasts, they held some gold, it seemed whatever was slaughtering them wasnt that interested in gold so i took what gold i could carry and moved on through the murky caves.

Scavenging for scraps

I walked and walked through the caves, nothing to see but a few stagles and mud piles and oh.. did i mention more corpses?

I was getting bored, this was going no-where, was i lost? it seemed i was walking in circles i was ntertaninng myself by kicking stones down the cave and listening to the echo, i was getting way off track.

The bordome settles in

I continued walking aimlessly through the caves until i came to something i hadnt seen before, a pile of rocks blocking the way so i climbed and moved as many rocks as i could to get through and found a hidden room with another stairway leading even further down.

Atlast, somewhere to go!

I followed the new passageway through some more caves which seemed to be a little more guided, as if made by something, however i kept my pace and could hear some grumbling from around one of the corners, i poked my head around to see a huge armoured man there muttering a strange language and toying with a huge pouch which seemed to hold alot of gold, i stepped back to think my steps and looked across the way to see a crystal ball of some sort, i threw a stone to hit the ball but missed, the sound didnt seem to distract him at all so i flicked through my book to find the telekenesis spell, i uttered the spell and pushed the crystal ball from its resting place, hitting the floor with a thud, the best seemed to had noticed it and i readied an energy bolt in my hands.

The best moved to the crystal ball on the floor and scratched its head, this was my chance! i leapt from my hiding place and hurled my energy bolt at the beasts head, before it knew anything it was laying on the floor so i took this chance to rummage through the bag and see what it had, seemed this beast had been busy.

Arc strikes gold

While stashing the gold in my pack i heard roaring and grunting coming from down the cave so i rushed to get the gold into my pack but it was to late.. i looked out to find 5 of the beasts stending ahead of me and they charged me, i swallowed hard and knew i wasnt going to get out of this without a fight, so i bit my tongue and began to battle the bests with every spell and curse i knew.

When the dust settled i was the victor, my armour had taken quite a beating but i was now a rich man, or atelast the militia was. I packed my pack with the gold and dragged it through the caverns and to my trusty packhorse waiting outside, loaded him up and set back for Cove.

A job well done

An excellent start to your Trials, Recruit Arc. And a fine report also.
I do wonder whether that new passageway ye went through is anything to do with the rumour of a force set on attacking Britain... *ponders*

Recruit Arc's Trials
Part Two - Escort Five Nobles out of Cove to destinations of their choice.

Another day, another duty, i stumbled into the barracks to ready for my next task,
"Escort five nobles..." I thought to myself "Damned snobs", so i cleared my blurry
eyes and set out for town to find my escorts.

Recruit Arc's Trials
Part Three - Tithe Five Hundred Gold Pieces to the Shrine of Compassion.

I had just woken and was ready for another trial, i poked my head into the barracks and again no-one was around to aid me in my next task. I then read the board and readied my things for this next task and then set off on the road for the desert.

For hours i walked with only the sun and the wind for company, i hated to walk, especailly as the temperature slowly rose as i made my way closer and closer to the desert, i could see the grass and dirt ahead of me getting dryer and harder until i found a guard outpost, the guards ther were busy beating off some rogues so i leapt in and helped them defeat them then made my way to the desert.

The sun was scorching, i was so hot and tired i could barely walk but before all hope was lost, i could see my goal! light reflecting off the waters in the distance so i sped up my pace and ended up bumping into a band of Orcs and other beasts.

For Cove !

Each of them fell to my curses and deadly spells and i smiled to myself and turned to find a HUGE band of beasts and other creatures ready to try and stop me in my tracks, i was to tired to fight anymore so i ran as fast as i could towards the shrine island ahead of me.

I managed to outrun them and got the the island, but they were still coming! i had no choice but to seal off the only way onto the island with a protection spell and quickly tithe my gold to the shrine.

I quickly took my gold from my pack and pushed it towards the ankh and knelt down in prayer, the scortching sun still on my back i was losing strength, and with it so was the protection spell holding back the beasts, the wall of energy was becoming weaker and smaller.

I finished my prayers and turned to see the wall about to collapse, i knew this was my time to leave and i chanted a spell to teleport me back home, by the time the beasts got onto the island, i was long gone.

Trial One - Slaying A Stone Harpy.
For this trial I decided to goto Chaos in Ilshenar. It was nay a hard battle but here is proof of my victory.
This is also when I began to collect gold and Feathers from the harpies remains.

Trial Two - Collect Five Hundred Feathers.

For this trial I went to Covetous, Covetous is a dungeon with many Harpies inside so it was an ideal place to go gather feathers, in a short time I salvaged Six hundred feathers from their remains.

However I did become full after collecting the feathers and I felt as though I could do with a higher challenge of foe to collect the gold so I banked the feathers and began thinking for my third task.

Trial Three - Collect Ten Thousand Gold Pieces.

After the Covetous visit i'd already accumulated 1,500 gold pieces so I only needed to gather 8,500 more. For this I wanted to use my axe a bit more so I chose to visit an earth elemental cave in Ilshenar Sacrifice for a while.
It didn't take long looting the gold and gems from the earth elementals to accumulate a net worth of ten thousand gold, once i'd reached it I returned to the bank and got the feathers and travelled to Cove Barracks for a rest whilst looking over the Ten Thousand Gold Piece Pile and the Six Hundred and Fifty Feathers.

Now I just need ter find someone ter recruit into the Militia. *thinks to himself* That's gonnabe hard.

Well That's three done. *Nods*

An excellent effort in thy Trials, Recruit Orange. And aye; finding a new Recruit shall be somewhat difficult - but ye have proven to be a man of unnatural resource, and therefore I trust that ye shall complete the task swiftly.
