Title: Regular's Manual #1: Organising & Leading Militia Training
Post by: Gregor Eason on January 02, 2006, 07:27:12 am
The rise from Regular Guardsman to Senior Guardsman is indeed a hard one. Few have made it to such levels, and thus.. it is time for one such as myself to unravel vast mysteries that have set folk aside in the past. Think of this as the "How To" of the Regular Guardsman rank.

I shall entitle this body of works, the Regular's Manual. And it shall be made up of a number of parts, all needing to be decorated and categorised at a later date.. but for now it shall be presented in a simple format.
So! The first chapter of this ravishing new tale, "Organising & Leading Militia Training".

Regular's Manual #1: Organising & Leading Militia Training
When training Militia folk, do remember.. ye are breeding men and women for war. And nothing else! Of course, guardsmen shall partake in their sentry and many other peaceful duties.. but at the end of the day.. it is not the art of taxing ye are teaching the Covian guardsman, but the ability to conquer fear, and drive a bloody blade into the heart of His or Her Enemy.
If ye can accomplish this in ye training, than an effective Intructor ye are indeed!

Discipline
* Discipline is essential. Of course, ye may have a few jokes and giggles, but never permit a guardsman to ridicule ye or get off lightly during a Training Session. Punishment is good to divulge, it does them good at the end of the day, so hold nay restrictions to the limit of thy wrath, ONLY death!

Training Plan
* The mechanics of a good Training Session are also worthwhile. Ye should retain a firm structure when conducting Training, being specific at the key skills ye are targetting. A rather simple Training Plan would look like this...

** The Commander's Simple Training Plan **
* Fitness Warm Up (Running, Press Ups!)
* Kit Inspection (Present Lightsource! Present Bedroll!)
* Basic Tactical Orders (Form! Line Up! Arm Up!)
* Squad Fighting/Healing Development
* Last Man Standing

Such a plan will derive the basics of Militia Training, and shall suit ye up with a good twenty minutes at least! If ye are inspired to do more, than surely do so. But always remain true to the essentials of Squad Fighting.
1. Stay Close! 2. Heal Well! 3. Focus Targets! 4. Utilise Special Moves (particularly Mortal)!

Conclusion
Training the Militia regularly is extremely important, and is a Promotion Requirement for a reason; to maintain the combat effectiveness of the Militia as a whole, and to develop and utilise organisational and leadership skills amidst the Regular ranks.. in preparation for Senior Guardsman.

If any Regular Guardsman require further advice on organising and leading Militia Training Sessions, nay hesitate to speak to me. Furthermore, if any lower ranks wish to join the Training effort, again.. my Pigeon Box is nay far away!
