Title: Horses
Post by: Ben Radau on January 17, 2006, 03:12:37 pm
...just a question: I thought horses were forbidden, only for shows or parades. But when we attacked the Yews the Sergeant even hunted us while mounted.... I fear I missed something: the Dragoons are also all mounted?
*sighs*
I get old...

Grd dont follow CoRE rules, the have their own LoW:

"General
• No obscene language or immature attitude is tolerated.
• Stay in character at all times.
• All guild members must have their guild abbreviation shown.
• No Banning from houses and Remove should only be used in roleplayed context in non-combat situations. *kicks out assassin through window*
• Avoid attacking characters that are obviously disconnected (but don't expect people to notice in the heat of battle, and don't complain when mistakes are made)

Fallen in battle (or being knocked out)
• If you die, get resurrected and return to your corpse. As soon as you reach it, hide, loot your remaining gear and then get away from the battle scene. No talking! Not even a comment on rules, fairness, mud etc. Avoid being seen as much as possible. You're currently a casualty of war.
• Keep the death-robe on for 30 minutes, and do not rejoin the battle. This marks that you are injured and may not participate in any way, including healing, stealing etc.
• You may not attack someone while they're injured.
• You may chose to be taken prisoner, however if you do not wish to be taken captive you must vacate the area immediately.

Mounts
• Each guild may field two riders in a battle at any one time.
• If you are dismounted during a battle, you may not remount.
• Mages may not ride a horse
• Ethereal mounts are not permitted

Restrictions
• No magical items, however items may be crafted with Oak, Yew and Ash wood.
• Trapped pouches may not be used.
• No high end pets (90+ taming) are permitted in battles.
• Lightning Strike is forbidden
• You may only use poisoned weapons if you have applied the poison yourself and have your skills displayed on my.uo"

Horses do seem unfair in combat.

I got pwned by some mounted Grd in the last battle i took part in.

I was doing rather well until then too :)

And he never helped me up, just lrode off and left me in a forest somewhere!

Never think of horses as an unfair advantage...just get a dismounting weapon and switch between your best weapon, and the dismounting one.

PS. GET UOASSIST!

I believe the Dragoon will only multiply my stolen quote:

We shall rape their horses and ride off on their women!

Grd doesnt use horses in battles. Not organized ones anyway. They think its lame, allthough the only reason they did that once was according to them that it made the chiv archers equal

As far as I'm aware; you could  do. I'm relatively certain that Grd has used horses in the past, but only really in planned battles.. templars asside, since their arses are glued to their horses. I'd agree that they need something other than conflag potions to counter Mages, Paladins, and Necromancers though.
