Title: Concerning the possible use of VoIP Post by: Delcarakdur on June 11, 2006, 08:59:12 am I was thinking:
If there are several people who have VoIP (voice over IP) chat gear, we could begin to issue orders during battles by voice partly, so to facilitate and speed up:
For those of you who prefer to keep all orders issued IG in UO, there is always the option that macros present, making it possible to quickly tell the persons under your command both OOC and IC and IG their orders. Delc PS: If my memory doesn't deceive me...I think we had this discussion on the command boards when I was in command. I hope however to receive feedback on this idea still. Maybe opinions have changed...maybe not. Now, the critics may slaughter my ideas... ;) Title: Re: Concerning the possible use of VoIP Post by: Erik Arkay/Evinyatar on June 11, 2006, 09:10:53 am Voicechat is a great tool for group discussions.
Although it is a clear advantage in PvP, most people will argue that it lags them so they shun away from it. Personally I refuse to voicechat while I roleplay, because I simply can't do both at the same time. It's a case where winning in battle isn't important enough to loose the RP experience for me. So we need criticism and constructive feedback like Erik's post.
Title: Re: Concerning the possible use of VoIP Post by: Khaelieth on June 11, 2006, 10:34:47 am I don't have a VoIP, but I'd still be against it if I had one. This is UO RP, not CS. It'd take too much away from RP.

Title: Re: Concerning the possible use of VoIP Post by: Locke DaOrt on June 11, 2006, 05:02:45 pm KTD used it a couple years back and it didnt help them to much, guard still crushed them ::)
Title: Re: Concerning the possible use of VoIP Post by: Kazuo Shinrai on June 11, 2006, 11:07:25 pm KTD never used it to it's fullest.
Besides, ganking isn't really a sophisticated tactic, is it? As for VoiP, it does lag me up but I also have to say I fully agree with RK's view on the matter. Now, for scouts or assassins on the other hand, that would be a different story. Title: Re: Concerning the possible use of VoIP Post by: Jack Sinist (•̪●) on June 12, 2006, 12:39:49 am S-T-A-L-E
Title: Re: Concerning the possible use of VoIP Post by: Nicholi Ravnthorn on June 12, 2006, 02:51:56 am I do think that VoIP could be usefully in PvP, but what does PvP matter if we are here to RP as Covians and just have fun? I mean, sure PvP is part of it but in no wa should it be -all- of it. IG commands really just add to the fun of the RP enviorment, and pluss wouldn't it look kinda weird to have people doing the exact same thing with no influence IG?
Title: Re: Concerning the possible use of VoIP Post by: Darcy O'Connor on June 12, 2006, 03:27:37 am And people... I would get the urge to curse and shout when a Yew guardsmen hacks my characters lifeless body down and you'd have to listen to me rant about it...
Nah, just for example it could get misused and ruin the RP. Title: Re: Concerning the possible use of VoIP Post by: Erik Arkay/Evinyatar on June 12, 2006, 06:04:49 am I believe most people are agreeing it ruins the RP fun.
It may have it's uses in OOC guild meetings and discussions though. Can we now lock the thread? Already some less constructive comments are seeping in and my moderator stick is showing signs of wear and tear. Title: Re: Concerning the possible use of VoIP Post by: Delcarakdur on June 12, 2006, 06:40:45 am Locked and loaded!
