Title: The Grand BoC Improvement Thread!
Post by: Erik Arkay/Evinyatar on July 29, 2006, 09:01:55 am
Greetings my friends!

This is a thread to post your ideas for the guild. What particular element of the guild do you like at the moment, and why? What would you like to see improved, and why? What would you like to see added to our Guild, and why? Even what element you would like to see removed or added upon, and why!

Please note that this thread is for BoC members only. Keep it civil as well. If there are any personal attacks, PM them to me instead of adding them here. Any posts that don't follow those rules will be edited or removed.

Now then....The Floor is open for discussion!

I would like to see more evil plots around Cove. When I made Jack there was such things, as the Organisation and the Gang around the slums. There was things going on. Now there is not, and Jack is kind of in mobilized by that (if that is even a word). He is hated by pretty much everyone, wich was the main point from the begining. But sadly it's kind of pointless for me to login when the only thing going on is other characters staring coldly or making comments all the time. (wich is fine, it's what I wanted, well hatred anyways).

So yeah, I'd like evil plots. Something evil so that Jack and any other dark creatures gets a bigger point of existance.

(I suck at explaining what I think, so I hope it made any sence at all. :P
And I can't play at the moment anyways because my stationary comp is away for repairs again.)

Last time I played I thought everything was okay.

But I've been browsing all new squads etc. And I would like to see some kind of a berserker squad, if there is resources enough for it. Perhaps the highlanders is the squad that today matches that request the most.

But what I want is to be even more barbaric. Perhaps the heretics could form this squad, as many followers of the church throughout time has referred heathens as barbarians etc.

Moreover there should be specific skills involved in this and also equipment, preferrably twohanded weapons. Mostly axes. And a special way of playing of course. No noble man could ever join the barbarians squad for instance.

Why I thought of this? Because Grazgorn fits in that description quite well... At least his way of fighting. Best defense is a good offense...

Thats all for me for now, when I return and can evaluate the current situation in-game, I might have more to say.

Cheers

I'll respond thorougly to this thread when I am done moving, should be back in 2 days.
As for the Organization, next week we shall be back in full force. It's just been kinda quiet due to my personal situation (girlfriend living here, moving, etc.).

In respect to this i have had, for quite a long time now, an idea for a squad of this nature exactly. Give me a shout on ICQ if you want to discuss this more, perhaps we can draw up a proposal of sorts.

I don't agree with the beserker squad thing, a naval squad is whats needed. Battles by sea, expeditions using a boat as transport. Joey knows the drill.

Also more roleplay based events instead of patroling all the time, this is picking up a bit im starting to see more roleplay which is nice.

I'll edit this later with more ideas.

I did plan out a Covian naval squad on the GM board, but to my knowledge these plans were never attempted in game.

The major problem with a naval themed squad is that traveling via boat in UO is such a long and horrible experience. It is difficult to even roleplay during this time due to the nature of boats chopping speech and so forth, though if the guild continues to expand as it is at the moment we could certainly give it a go.

Well a way to make it less fun is perhaps stopping during long trips? Having 10-20 minutes to do something like eat or fish etc.. or just keeping the trips as short as possible. I know on catskills me and Hoagie got a boat and just randomly went sailing, that was quite fun. We docked at the shore and went fishing!

I do agree with Jack or evil based plots which everyone can get involved with I did a small plot with B^F while I was GM called "The Gem of Pyros" which was quite a good plot. It was where we had to find the gem in fire dungeon which used to belong to pyros excetera.

Normal hunts can be fun if you put a little back ground plot behind it, i'll give a little example though im sure most of you know what I mean.

"Right today we're going to travel to cut open some ants. My Auntie May went mushroom picking down there weeks ago and apparently one of the Ants ate the diamond bracelet that my uncle gave her."

I always find if something like that is said that a lot of spontaneous roleplay is done on the patrol! People just need a bit of promopting

This is Grim right now...I havent made my thing on the boards yet but I am getting to it. I am trying to help with the darkness around Cove by brining in the evil thing living inside of my character. I went evil on Will Little and he liked it. So ICQ Darek and tell him that you want to talk to me if anybody wants to plot something to happen...'cause my char is 100% evil...just hasn't released it yet.
Thanks....Jake aka Grim...oh and Dareks ICQ is 213197933

That's certainly an idea we can take into consideration, I was always fond of the naval idea myself. I've only ever been to one or two naval battles, but they were always pretty good stuff. There's also a wealth of lore for a naval squad, it would certainly be something different.

All we need now is the man power - let's see if we can get a few more recruits, and we'll see what we can do! ;)

Theres quite a few events you can do based on the navy. You can have the guards collect the resources and actually build the ships themselfs.

Yes i agree totally though the trip's can be boring once you get to land all sort's or roleplay comes out...
Might have people get sea sick or on the way someone goes over board get attacked by monster's and have to use engage and kill them before advancing as well Treasure hunting and fishing plenty of thing's to do with a navy and its fantastic idea! :)
Remember how we retook cove that time during the ork invasion ;D

That's what we need the navy for...

Perhaps a rank called "Gatekeeper" with the sole purpose to guard the new-founded gates of BoC?

I don't think we'll ever find a hermit willing to spend his online time guarding the Gate :) I plan to add some NPC-guards there though

Sure, we can do this. I mean, I got one word for you. Goldfarmers. Just hire some China dude, pay him dirt (but where they live, dirt is good money) and have him sit there guarding the gate all day long. With him living in a third world country also means we can have him guard the gate like 21 hours a day. Problem solved!
