Title: UO Spoken Commands Post by: Veldrin on August 04, 2006, 08:52:52 pm No matter how good of a roleplayer you are, the time comes when you must use spoken commands in UO to manipulate game mechanics. Such as saying:
"Bank" - to open your bank box. "all follow me" - to get pets to follow you. "I wish to lock this down" - to lock items down in your house. It tends to look somewhat disgraceful to say those things in front of other players, so there are a few things you can do to keep roleplay seamless and presentable. Not everyone is aware of the Whisper ability in UO. It's a lot like emoting, but using a semicolon ( ; ) instead of a colon to begin your statement. When you use the whisper ability, only you, and anyone standing one tile next to you will be able to see what you're saying. So you can happily modify items in your house or command pets in front of others without worrying about appearances (assuming you are more than one tile away from them). "; All stay" "; I wish to release this" There are also more creative steps you can take to enrich roleplay. When opening your bank box or stabling your pet, for some examples, one common method is to "speak" to the NPC. "I'd like to see my bank box, please." "I'd like to tie my pet in the stable." For pet commands, you might also whisper the command, followed by a normal spoken command. "; All follow me" *gestures to the animal to follow her* "; All kill" "Fluffy, sic'em!" Just some ideas to liven up roleplay and to avoid awkward spoken UO commands. Title: Re: UO Spoken Commands Post by: Kazuo Shinrai on August 11, 2006, 10:06:43 pm Additionally, Bankers now respond to non-connected key words, such as creating a check.
"Banker, I would like to have a check written for 60000 gold." or when withdrawing money "I would like to withdraw 500 gold from my account." Additionally, the word bank (to open your bank box) can aso be replaced with banque or banco. *grins* Although unconfirmed, I suspect this is now the same with vendors. So no longer would you need to say "vendor buy", you can also say "Vendor I would like to buy some of your wares." And ofcourse the sell command would work the same. |
