Title: Re: Have we been Counting UO time Incorrectly?!? Post by: Garak Nightchill on August 08, 2006, 04:16:38 pm Some Ultima Trivia:
Mondain had contact with a cat-like spacefaring warrior race believed to be the Kilrathi from the Wing Commander games. There were spaceships and laser-guns in the early Ultima games. Mondain created the orcs by blending humans with dogs. Ultima 2 appears to be entirely set on Earth in different time periods., conquered by Minax. I don't think Sosario is in it at all. Britain (the island) is ruled by Lord British. Originally the Ultima characters were assumed to be different people i.e Ultima 4 was originally the Avatar's first time in Britannia/Sosaria. Ultima 5 is referred to as his second visit to Britannia. I think it was either Ultima 6 or Ultima 7 that 'retconned' things and had it that the Avatar was the protagonist in all the Ultima games. Montor in Ilshenar was a normal city in the original Ultima game (possibly Ultima 3 too). In the PC version of Ultima 4 you meet Short-Round from Indiana Jones in Yew. In the Sega Master System version it's Indy's father, looking for the grail. In Ultima 4 the only way to visit Cove is to have your ship get sucked into a whirlpool to make it appear in the lake. You can then dock next to Cove. There was a hot air balloon sitting next to Hythloth in Ultima 4 which you could fly. The original look of the Chaos Dragoon armour in the 3D version of UO looks like Blackthorn's Wyrm Guard armour from Ultima 9. In Ultima 4 the dungeons were all inter-connected with each other. The entrance to Hythloth was at the back of Castle British. Originally in Ultima Online I think it was supposed to be set around after the first few Ultima games, when the Lake Superior player-run Trinsic Rebellion started around '99 Lord British (Garriott) sent a letter to the player-run High Council encouraging the Loyalists to stand against Calandryll's Rebellion, the letter referred to Minax and Exosus having been dealt with. OSI later decided to change this and re-introduce Minax, Exodus etc. The player Calandryll led the Rebellion and was one of the OOC organisers behind it, and later worked for OSI, was the lead developer (I think) of the ill-fated Ultima: X and is now working on Lord of the Rings Online. Sadly I missed all that, by the time I started UO and got involved with the RP community it's slow decline had already begun. Title: Re: Have we been Counting UO time Incorrectly?!? Post by: Kazuo Shinrai on August 11, 2006, 11:12:28 am Yeah, I just love in-game time... heh, if only I had more of it! :S
What I meant though is that I love the ultima lore and I would love for UO to get the Ultima feel again. Recently (at least it is to me) UO is not much more than a catalist I use for roleplay. "Want to join BoC? Well, first you need to download this program called UO, we all use it for roleplay." Hell, it won't be much longer before we start refering to UO as a ''BoC Client''. Right? Title: Re: Have we been Counting UO time Incorrectly?!? Post by: Darcy O'Connor on August 11, 2006, 11:35:42 am Lol, well listen to this then. Me and Will have been coming up with draft ideas for a sort of in-game project to start a library at my houses location (just a second below the barracks) which will contain lore written by BoC members and scribes ABOUT BoC history and lore as well as other appropriate scriptures. So maybe you will see some more of this and could contribute if you wish to...

Well, Kazuo still holds the key to the Bujin'Kai and Kotodama archives. (meaning I got all the little red books that were ever written, including a full set of toppu denko cards - a card game, which was immensely popular in Yew, made by the founder of TBK) Title: Re: Have we been Counting UO time Incorrectly?!?
