Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Garak Nightchill on August 16, 2006, 05:05:57 pm The Wickerman is one of the best films ever.
I'm talking about the extendedversion of the original, don't even want to think of the remake with Nicholas Cage. One of the best scenes has to be when the puritanical Christian cop, Howie, is nearly having a fit over the naked girls he saw jumping through rings of fire in a pagan festival. Howie: "But... but... they are naked!" Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee): "Of course they're naked, much too dangerous to jump through fire with your clothes on!" and then gives Howie a look as if to say "how dumb are you?" Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Jenifer Feather on August 16, 2006, 06:51:39 pm Ya' that film owns... Christopher Lee owns too..
Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Vince Valentine on August 17, 2006, 08:29:42 am Action wise, it has to be the awesome Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis.
This is everything an action movie should be! Horror wise, The Ring. The original japanese version was shiver-tastic, and the american remake was pretty good. '28 days later' was a really good british horror movie Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Kazuo Shinrai on August 17, 2006, 02:16:11 pm So, have we yet agreed on the best film ever?
Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Nicholi Ravnthorn on August 17, 2006, 02:56:30 pm That would be Equilibrium. For sure!
Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Odenetheus on August 17, 2006, 03:27:00 pm Seriously? That film really, REALLY sucks. Especiallt the ending sequence where he fights all those soldiers in the long corridor. So pathetic!
Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Kado Gael on August 17, 2006, 05:30:26 pm Braveheart *nod*
Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Garak Nightchill on August 17, 2006, 06:29:02 pm Being Scottish, Braveheart will always have a fond place in my heart.
But it is seriously messed up in terms of accuracy. Edinburgh Castle is built on a massive 'block' of volcanic material, google it and then compare with the crappy castle shown in the film. The battle of Stirling was at Stirling Bridge, not the middle of a field. Kilts weren't around at that time. Longshanks died several years after Wallace. The battle of Bannockburn was completely meh. Edward II was there, they went with the intention to fight, this paying homage crap was completely made up. And the Scots actually used tactics other than charging across a field screaming. Way to stereotype Scottish, Irish and English people, Hollywood. But it's an entertaining film for all that. The Lord of the Rings trilogy deserves a mention here. The first one is nearly perfect. Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Nicholi Ravnthorn on August 17, 2006, 06:43:12 pm Seriously? That film really, REALLY sucks. Especiallt the ending sequence where he fights all those soldiers in the long corridor. So pathetic! OR You have a bad taste in movies?! :P Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Gregor Eason on August 18, 2006, 11:43:38 am But but!! He was like.. teh BESTEST CLERIC EVAR!!
And he was trained to like.. dodge bullets! And through his wierd funky kung fu shooting training his killing efficiency rose no less than 120%!! The only other Cleric that could pwn him was Sean Bean - who got an attack of conscience. That black dood thought he was l33t, but got pwned in like.. two seconds - LOL Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Hrothgar on August 18, 2006, 12:35:59 pm Four Brothers tbh...
Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Darcy O'Connor on August 18, 2006, 02:54:19 pm If any of you guys have seen Ong Bak, then you know Tony Jaa absolutely pwnz anyone. Ever.
Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Garak Nightchill on August 18, 2006, 04:13:59 pm Ong Bak was good. It was kinda funny when the main character, having just defeated the marital arts guys in single combat almost got beat by some guy whos fighting style involved nothing kore than a relentless assault using everything close to hand as a weapon
Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Jenifer Feather on August 18, 2006, 08:53:01 pm Snakes on a plane, saw it just now, enough said.

Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Jenifer Feather on August 19, 2006, 02:59:35 pm lolar! its SHEER genius... the advert owns too... "this summer, pirates rule the seas, but snakes rule the air" WHAT a catchy line...
Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Darcy O'Connor on August 19, 2006, 06:22:33 pm Yeah the line is good, but that doesnt make the film good lol. Ill go and see it monday.
Title: Re: Best Film Ever? Post by: Gregor Eason on August 21, 2006, 02:58:19 am Snakes On A Plane?
