So then, a little over a week of hard recruit cadre has been done and I have another two months left before completing my "Recruit Cadre".

I'm doing well, and oh yes, I will be back once I get a wireless for my new laptop (wireless has been installed into the barracks I live in). Expect iron-hard discipline and mean behaviour towards any cocky recruits, watchmen and juniors...

Does the norwegian army suck as much as the Swedish one? Don't take me wrong.. I love my country over all others. Just that it's army sucks over all others. One year military training while the rest of the world has 3, I so hope someone invades so we can beg for the US to come and save us.

At least you have an army... Iceland only has policemen... and they don't even carry guns... they carry mace...

Turns out I have two weeks of exercise left. I'll enjoy frigid hell for another two weeks and them I'll be very sporadically back in action.

Hoggie, I think the average hick around here is better armed than Icelandic law inforcement.

I'm also currently thinking about signing a contract for international service in the ISTAR (Intellegence Surveillance Targetting Aquittance and Radar...I think) battalion. It could be great fun, But I'm gonna wait till I see how much I enjoy this in the first place... ;)

Day 1: 12 miles march. With a 60 lbs backpack, G3 rifle and full combat gear. Day 2: same as day two. Marched to an altitude of 1200 meters, tall up in the north norwegian mountains. Day 3 & 4: 8 hour day at the shooting range. Moved the entire camp each day and did two hours of guard duty each day. Day 5: got attacked at 3 am during the night by two platoons of royal marines as well as the entire norwegian armored battalion. All in all, almost no sleep, little food and a damned sore back and feet.

How you gonna qualify for the intelligence part? ;)

Its a mixing pot of all characters, good and bad.

A mate of mine (A regular Norwegian army mechanic) told me this funneh story from when he was in the north. They're always training SEALS, and one of the squads were gonna have a little test with the Norwegians. The Norwegians "booby trapped" all houses in the area, and the first thing the SEALS did was to try to get out of the cold and into a house. They didn't check for any traps in the rush of getting out of the cold winter wind and the whole squad "died" 5 mins into the training. Hilarious :D

For the sake of all you hold dear..... do not beg that my country has to save you... we are stretched damn thin wit this whole global war on terror.... I mean i love being the global police cowboys and all, yahoo. but um, Id rather be defending my own country and not everyone elses.

Also what 3 years of training? I had 3 months then got sent out here after another 2 in my job related schooling lol the army only has like 8 motnhs of training in Basic infantry. Kinda funny, give a red-neck a gun and he makes it something deadly.... put him with a bucnh of other red-necks and may the almighty have mercy on your soul.
