Darath grunted “Darkmoon eh? Feisty and ill disciplined” He leaned back and scratched at his chin, eyeing the watchman’s file a moment “Sound like me at his rank!” With a grunt and the faintest hint of a grin Darath began to scribble Conan Darkmoons watchman trial…..


Greetings Watchman Darkmoon. It appears that you have the ambition and drive but that is not enough to grant you the right to the Covian Cap. Now you must prove that you are worth your salt. Discipline, courage and leadership you will have to demonstrate in order to complete this trial. And if you cannot? Well, have you ever considered where those very life-like training dummies in the barracks came from?

Assignments:

1.   You must lead a NAKED hunt to the pits of the dungeon known as Despise, cumulating in the slaying of an Ogre Lord.
2.   Lead an expedition deep into the desert not far from the great crossroads of Altmere. Here you must camp and survive in the harsh conditions.
3.   During you expedition you must observe the local creatures so that you can write a SEPARATE and DETAILED report about desert wildlife.

Conditions:

•   For assignments 1. and 2. at least 5 Guardsmen other than yourself must be present.
•   On the naked hunt NO armour can be worn by any member of the party, only clothing. Therefore good crosshealing is essential.
•   The expedition must set up camp in the desert at a suitable spot and stay there for at least one hour. You must ensure there are sufficient water and supplies as well as protection from the sun, wind and any aggressive creature.
•   All assignments must be well documented with full reports in this thread.
•   If you are unable to take pictures during your assignments, please ask one of the Guardsmen present to take some for you.
•   You desert wildlife report should detail at least 4 creatures including descriptions and pictures if possible.

Greetings Covians!  I just returned from one of the best Hunts in cove.

 Leading- Conan Darkmoon, Watchman

 Attending- Averion, Guardsman Recruit
                  Vince Valentine, Regular Grenadier
                  Kal Shadowhand, Officer Cadet
                  Hoagie, Regular Dragoon
                  Kelly, Junior Scout

 The hunt was full of twists and turns!  I wanted to make sure that I completed mah Junior trials as soon as I could.  I immediately informed Kal and Hoagie that I was going to be conducting a "Naked" hunt into despise to go get some Ogre Lords head!  O course as soon as they heard naked hunt they called me a "Man Luver" which I denied of course!

  Finally everyone decided that the hunt would be a pretty fun idea, and also a chance to show some Covian Courage!  People started lining up left and right, and after my mentor Vince showed up, I decided it would be a good idea to move on to Despise!

   I instructed Averion to carry a torch so as to guide our way through the murky, decrepit dungeon.  Let me tell ye's we whipped through trolls and ettins like a knife through hot butter and finally when we reached the giant Ogre Lord, I knew we would have to stick together to survive.  I gave Vince and Averion orders to drag the Ogre Lords across the bridge to our little group, I called a box formation and the fighting ensued.
 
  The fighting was rather fierce, at one point Averion broke from the group after being slapped with over a ton of force in the chest.  I myself got hit by one of the Ogre Lords massive toes and it actual tore my shirt right open!  Luckily the group didn't falter, and everyone was doing an excellent job at healing the soldiers next to them.

  Finally Kal dealt a death blow to the giant beast.  The Ogre Lord fell with a thud and not one person was badly injured!  Our little group cheered and shouted "For Cove" I then proceeded to make everyone a little messy and chop off the Ogre Lords head with my Bardiche.  Kelly got sprayed with some blood and so did Averion, although he rather like it.

  After taking the Ogre Lords head and returning to Cove, Thomas Sendrich commented that it was grand we were able to kill one of the Massive beasts without armor, but we did it.  Just goes to show ye how important cross-healing is in any form of combat.

HUNT TO THE DESERT NORTH OF ALTMERE

 Leading: Conan Darkmoon

 Attending: Desmond Krieger, Nathaniel Boyd, Kurt Alimar, Flina Trix(Left midway) Del'Zar and Snudrud, the Goblin.

  The Hunt itself was one of the more grueling I have ever been a part of in my Career as a Watchman!  Upon entering the much talked about desert of Altmere me and my party were attacked by HUNDREDS of blood crazed scorpions.  Thankfully mah' party understood the importance of cross-healing and we defeated the giant army of scorpions fairly quickly.

   After defeating the foul' things I ordered Kurt Alimar to oversee construction of our tiny outpost in the middle of the desert.  Snudrud assisted Kurt in building the thing, although by the end of our hunt I ordered Del'Zar to set it aflame for fear that orcs would use the old' wood to they're advantage. After the Fort was built I ordered all the men to get inside and arm-up.

   Much to our surprise, a small group of scouting orcs came and attacked our little fort, but we repelled them with almost no problem at all.  After this attack I ordered Del'Zar and Desmond to go out and forage for Wood, Water, and Food.  Del'Zar came back with pitchers full of ice cold mountain water, thankfully everyone but snudrud got to drink some. 

   After getting the water Del'Zar began to sweat profusely, the Desert was extremely hot and almost everyone fought without helmets, just using our small leather bandanas to shield our head from blows.  The hunt was certainly very entertaining, and we got a fair amount of gold back in the coffers too.

DESERT SCORPIONS- This particular animal was extremely interesting to me, for one these scorpions are actually able to breed a large litter in a number of hours.  The Scorpions in the Desert north of Altmere where also extremely ferocious, and for the most part hunted in packs.  They had one large stinger on their tail for stunning their prey, also tiny hairs on their back that act as purifiers during a Dust Storm.

SNAKE-  Desert Snakes were not that impressive to me, although I did notice several differences between the common garden snake and this critter.  For one, a desert snakes coloring is a light/brown tan complexion that helps it blend in with the surrounding Desert area.  The snake is slightly poisonous, although it's fangs are known to be very dull and it generally is never even able to puncture the skin of a Human. 

SAND VORTEX-  This strange beast was nothing more than a giant cloud of burning Sand flying about the place.  I tried to learn as much about these strange creatures as I could, however whenever I would try to dissect them, all I would find is a bunch of sand!  The Defense Mechanism of this particular creater is strange, it shoots tiny solid balls of sand at peoples heads, this defense can prove to be quite FATAL to humans.

HARPY-  The Harpy can be found in many other places besides the Desert, even around Cove Town itself although the Desert harpies certainly were more agressive than any others ive seen.  They're iron claws and teeth are extremely dangerous, and they're choice type of food are human beings..
