Title: Report: Alliance Drill - Thursday, 21st September 2006
Post by: Krieger on September 22, 2006, 07:34:03 am
Journal Extract - Desmond Frederick Krieger
Late Evening, Thursday, 21st September 2006

In our ongoing campaign to seize Minoc, to completely prise it from the Loyalist’s pathetic grasp, training is an important road to success. As it has already been said, at the last battle we gave the Loyalist force something of a slaughtering; however, due to tonight’s successful drill with the Kaldorians and Vesperians, we hope to better our previous performance and utterly cripple the Loyalists!

First though, a Free for All tournament, coordinated by Senior Scout Valiro Gryphonclaw whilst Sergeant Lanai prepared our battle game. If I could be so bold as to say – I was in the winning three, along with two Kaldorians who quite blatantly worked together to knock out Regular Grenadier Gimbly in the closing minutes of the competition. I was lucky enough that at Gimbly’s fall, a cease was called – otherwise I would have been next, surely!

Evidently adapted from other ideas of battle games, though certainly not quite the same as any I have ever played, Sergeant Lanai’s different concept was interesting and generally fun. The usual process of team selecting started us off, and much to my surprise, I was selected for Team Captain of Team Blue. The procedure of the game was to defend two heavy crates at your base which the opposing team would drag to their base, while simultaneously attempting to attack the opposing team’s base and take their heavy crates. Proposing that one member of the team is responsible for charging in for the enemy’s crates, while the others distract, mislead, and wallop the opposing team whilst keeping the crate-man healed, it resulted in me being the crate-man for all three rounds. This method of tackling the game proved to be very effective – certainly promoting teamwork as the Drill was intended to do – my team winning two rounds in a row. Upon the third and final round, I was ordered to switch teams, and curiously Team Red won on this round..!

The general course of the night.

"For the next time we encounter the Loyalist forces, it shall be even more of a slaughter then before!"
– Sergeant Lanai.

And so it shall be! Huzzah!
