Title: Returning
Post by: Khaelieth on September 26, 2006, 05:03:16 pm
Got internet working, but still got to get ICQ and UO working. I'll be back quite soon, but not sure exactly when I'll be back.

No, that was what I felt like yesterday :D The night before I was lying on my back outside some girl's flat, smelling of beer, throwing crisps into the air and expecting to be let in :D

And I did land one of them as soon as I got home to boot. And I had landed the other one before, so didn't bother about that one. BUT!

I'm still trying to get UO working.

I've looked into my internet trouble.

1. MSN. I can log on, but unable to send messages.
2. ICQ. As quoted from Strath: The use of Instant Messaging protocols is not supported on the University network. At least MSN (now Windows Live Messenger) is able to use an authenticating HTTP proxy, and we are working on providing configuration instructions
3. UO. If a game hosted off the campus requires direct Internet access, and cannot be used through an HTTP proxy, then it cannot be played. While there are at present no technical measures preventing games being hosted within the campus/residences network, if there is any evidence that they are interfering with legitimate academic usage of the network we will ask you to stop, and possibly take further action

Any help?

EDIT: And yes, I do want to kill the computer geek responsible for this.

Basically, I can't access ICQ or UO.
