After that horrible period of carrying out women’s work earlier – cleaning, and all that shite – I wasn’t half pleased to get back to some proper soldier work. Useful work, at that; training together with our allies is always helpful for beating back the Loyalists, again, and again, to a better scale. Despite there being no Vesperians to be seen, their numbers are, admittedly, very few, so I’m doubtful it would have made much of a difference.

Gathering all the allied soldiers to the north of the Barracks, Sergeant Lanai briefed us on a short mission we were to accomplish before the actual training commenced. As he said, a ferocious beast – known as a Leviathan, I think – had been terrorising the Baron’s waters. In an attempt to draw it to the shore, the Sergeant, accompanied by one of his Dragoons and a Dragoon Apprentice, set out on a ship into the bay. And, in little time, they returned with an irate Leviathan. Swinging its gargantuan tentacles at the soldiers, it was a dangerous foe. Nevertheless, Covian might our allied might prevailed. With that, and minor celebration, Sergeant Lanai handed the troops over to Viper Captain Talon of Kaldor, who had unexpectedly been left with the responsibility of organising the training exercises. As such, we understandably performed a common exercise - none too creative.

Calling for two volunteers, they were then made team captains. Naturally, they picked their teammates and got their team coloured robes. The exercise itself consisted of one team assaulting Cove gates, with the other team defending Cove gates. Nothing spectacular, but training is training, and do us good it should!
