Title: Does anyone else get this Post by: Coma Black on October 10, 2006, 08:34:04 pm when you come on to the BOC website you get another pop up saying that your computer tracks what you do, and no matter if you press yes or no it brings up another website selling a product to delete internet files?

If you close it instead of clicking it, it will go away. But don't ever click them. :-\ Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Coma Black on October 10, 2006, 09:17:42 pm John trust me, I probably know more about computers than half the people on here.
Its not that sort of pop up, its like a error message pop up you get with windows, and no matter what you click on it brings up and internet pop up trying to sell this product... and its highly frustrating... even if i close it through windows task manager.... Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: John Dell on October 10, 2006, 09:19:53 pm Okay, sorry. Just trying to help thas all
N I don't get no pop up or anything, so maybe you got some shiz on your computer? Run ad-aware or some I reckon Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Coma Black on October 10, 2006, 09:22:11 pm Thats what i thought, or I thought it might have something to do with the site..
I ran Spybot and it didn't bring up anything.... who knows. I will wait till it comes again and see if i can trace it some how Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Vince Valentine on October 10, 2006, 09:24:20 pm Nope, i get nothing like that when i visit our fine website
Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: John Dell on October 10, 2006, 09:25:22 pm Coma is l33t haxor :D
Perhaps it was something temporary on the site? Like a little something bad snuck in but got whiped out now? Well, that makes sense in my head atleast :o Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Octiovus on October 10, 2006, 09:31:42 pm It is possible you're going through the old address which was:
http://baronshipofcove.cjb.net/ (http://baronshipofcove.cjb.net/) We cancelled our place there for reasons such as that. The correct address is http://cove.fantasyworld.nl/ (http://cove.fantasyworld.nl/) (no other link is the official BoC site). If that doesn't help matters, I'm not sure what to say. I think the problem is more likely to be with your computer as I've certainly never experienced any sort of pop up on any fantasyworld hosted website or forum. Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Garak Nightchill on October 10, 2006, 09:46:00 pm I had it as well, from going through the old site. I just closed it using the red x and ignored it.
Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Veldrin on October 12, 2006, 03:19:21 pm I clicked on the link and my anti-virus went nuts. Normally it doesn't respond to popups but it immediately told me that OH GOD MALWARE WANTS TO GET INTO MY COMPUTER. I'm glad we switched sites.
Quote its like a error message pop up you get with windows, and no matter what you click on it brings up and internet pop up trying to sell this product That's a very popular technique that a lot of popups use. It's deceptive and many people who don't know much about computers are fooled. "What? VIRUSES? I NEED PROTECTION." However, popups that slide across the screen on a webpage like the one on the old website DO always have close buttons. It's usually very small, and they may be difficult to find, but if you look closely you'll see a "close" or "x" somewhere, and if you click them the add will indeed close instead of taking you to the site. Sometimes it will have a red X button that looks like the one on Windows, but isn't really the close button and you need to find the real one. Popups are required by special regulations to have one somewhere. I also know quite a lot about computers. As a precaution you may want to run TrendMicro ( http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ )Housecall which can scan your computer for spyware, adware and viruses without any downloads required. Spybot is also a fantastic spyware remover that I use and recommend it if you keep getting these popups. Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Anthony Poena on October 12, 2006, 05:57:03 pm Of course, if it's a seperate window, you can close it with alt-f4 usually. On that note, GET FIREFOX.
Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Veldrin on October 12, 2006, 06:34:42 pm Firefox is crap, don't listen to him!
Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Kazuo Shinrai on October 12, 2006, 09:34:20 pm FIREFOX FTW

Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Gregor Eason on October 13, 2006, 01:26:59 am Hey guys.
Both http://cove.fantasyworld.nl, and http://sugeworld.com are proper hosted schizzle - so there should be no pop ups whatsoever. If there are, its something more likely down your end. So stop downloading the ghey pr0n and stuff rofl rofl love Eason Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Khaelieth on October 13, 2006, 12:27:58 pm Finally some advice!
Title: Re: Does anyone else get this Post by: Claire/Mikaela on October 13, 2006, 02:09:06 pm For someone who knows alot about puters I'm suprised you didnt run 2 or 3 spyware seekign programs, knowing that they don't all catch the same junk. firefox does suck btw :P
The only time firefox/opera/etc will ever be efficiant enough will be when all websites can be supported on them... I haven't used FF in a while, so this is all just assuming things haven't changed... I just remember having to use internet explorer and firefox.. which defeated the purpose of having firefox.. ^_^ |
