Title: Serious Injuries Post by: Darath Mithar on March 21, 2005, 08:46:33 pm Just something ive noticed after fights, especially the big ones, no ones injured! Im mean come on! Its suprising enough that no one dies during the fights let alone gets a serious injury. Now im not saying after every fight you should be on the brink of death but everyone should have little nicks here and there even if they didnt get knocked. Stuff like this enhances the RP in the aftermath of battles. What do you lot think?
Title: Re: Serious Injuries Post by: Shadwell on March 21, 2005, 09:04:57 pm I agree.. You are wounded IC not wearing a white robe because you got tagged.
Title: Re: Serious Injuries Post by: Gregor Eason on March 21, 2005, 09:12:38 pm Aye, agreed. I usually roleplay injured; but I tend to let my OOC bolsterous behaviour get the better of me and start jumping around the place! It's only to keep the morale up ;)
But a good point, Darath. Mayhaps I'll add it to the Roleplaying page on the tome. Title: Re: Serious Injuries Post by: Darath Mithar on March 21, 2005, 09:36:04 pm I dont actually do this but i was thinking along the lines of whenver you get knocked you should roll a dice will values of like:
1-2: Minor cuts and scraches 3: Larger gash/ Minimal blood loss/perhaps requires stiching 4: Head injury/Concussion/memory loss/drowziness 5: Re-opening of old wound 6: Serious injury/large loss of blood/slipping in and out of conciousness/requires prolonged treatment Obviously change this to what you feel would be right for your char e.g. if their more sucesptable to head injuries etc. Just an idea Title: Re: Serious Injuries Post by: Daelin on March 21, 2005, 10:41:16 pm Ahhh well I agree with the idea I do let Ryan get seriously hurt from time to time.. but when I do so he'll be having problems with the wounds for days if not weeks.
The main problem with getting wounded is that you always seem to miss out on the fun stuff afterwards. :-\ But it would be nice to have people bleeding all over the tavern floor and giving Muldun a headache since he has to patch up twenty guardsmen. :D Title: Re: Serious Injuries Post by: Gregor Eason on March 21, 2005, 11:07:46 pm Aye, agreed :D
There is actually a lot of fun to be had in roleplaying injury, I know the Kaldorians do a lot of medical malarky and have their Infirmary where a lot of damn good healing goes on. They conduct healing just like doctors. It's great! Title: Re: Serious Injuries Post by: Cambylobacter on March 21, 2005, 11:37:55 pm People are selective in what they roleplay, period. If we're talking about "In Character Actions = In Character Consequences", we've currently gone to war against Kaldor and The Southern Forces. More or less every single member of the militia and quite possibly the population of Cove as a whole, would be fearful of their life for now and the foreseeable future.
Tonight we wandered into the stronghold of a formidable army and were shown that they are formidable indeed. Whilst I wholeheartedly agree that people would be nursing some quite serious injuries, there seems to be a more serious in-character implication that is hanging like The Sword of Damocles. A whole lot of people want our characters dead. I would consider that edge a lot more fun to play and far more developmental than nursing a limp. We're just going to stray into "acting" and not "developmental roleplay" if we don't consider in-character actions more seriously. Oh...crud!!! Title: Re: Serious Injuries Post by: Darath Mithar on March 22, 2005, 11:51:27 am Yes i agree with you Camb during these battles we should really lose alot of men. However the reality is that noone wants to let goes of there characters whos personalities theve developed and grown attached to. What im suggesting is something more of a comprimise for these people - they can RP to the brink of death but dont have to go over it.
Title: Re: Serious Injuries Post by: Gregor Eason on March 22, 2005, 11:58:24 am Death is always a difficult one. I think Darath's right in that you need a comprimise; because at the end of the day we're here to have fun - and losing your characters in battle ain't fun.
But, I'm thinking what Camb means is that we should be considering death, and taking it into account when charging off to battle. Roleplaying that "edge", being worried, being afraid and so forth. And perhaps only fighting when as the last resort. However, being occupied for several months the Covians have developed into a rather tough, aggressive fighting citizenship! So perhaps they're more likely to march to battle than others! Title: Re: Serious Injuries Post by: Gregor Eason on March 22, 2005, 12:05:36 pm Note: Serious injury added as an optional attribute, on the Roleplaying page.
Title: Re: Serious Injuries Post by: Darath Mithar on March 22, 2005, 02:16:54 pm Aye i always RP Darath as nervose before battle and hes been a merc for 10 years!
