Well, it could be worse! On my forum I got people posting about viagra pills, free porn, etc. etc. while my domain/website/forum has NOTHING to do with any of that. Now, I know spam is inevitable, but does anyone know why they are spamming me? I mean, why and where do they get the idea or information that they should advertise (and I quote) "p3n1$ 3NL@rG3m3nT" on MY forum! What baffles me the most is that those people who post spam only make one post and then are never heard from again and actually take the time to register (yes, they really do) in order to be able to post in the first place! ... or am I being outsmarted by bots here? if you close signing to it has to be verified by the admins you can stop it.. (Another Forum) We've gotten on the spammer radar, and I am determined that they won't establish themselves here to harvest info. The last account, AdskiyOtji, had this email address: adskiyotjig@mail.ru His registration IP traced: IP address: 84.252.139.200 Host name: xxx.v.shared.ru The account is deleted. There were two more yesterday or the day before that I deleted as well. For now, I have made registration acceptance by admin only, so they cannot log in and grab our email address. Admins, if you want to check an ip in the control panel, go to www.nwtools.com and check it out. Lookup tells you if it hosts a site (like above), trace tells you where it is, and Xwhois tells you who owns it. That was made by an owner of another forum i go on. So its worth keeping an eye out for it.. |
