Title: BoC homepage
Post by: qom_riyadh on May 02, 2007, 07:32:09 am
Can anyone (web admins especially) tell me why the citizen content disappeared from the index?

The citizenry of BoC has its better and worse days, indeed, but is that enough to remove us from the Tome?

*mutters*

At the time the Civvy concept came and went and came and went again, the rules and such every changing. My guess that it was initially taken down to be put back up again when everything had been set in stone, which in a way it still hasn't really.

The civvy concept is something that needs ALOT of love. Perhaps even more so than the Army structure.
Basically alot of us gave it a shot but we are waiting for our messiah. That one person completely devoid of a social life and totally addicted to BoC, willing to dedicate 25 hours a day, 8 days a week to the Civilians.

Well, overall you're right saying about many alterations to the system.
What I mean is:

* I don't except whole ruleset to be published. Just an actual information about that we have something like citizenship - with different things to do, shilling system etcetc

* What if that "Messiah" isn't guilded yet? How will he know about it?

I really enjoy the citizen content, interacting with others, even wandering around Cove boring and seeing what various people have in their houses.

Also I think that we don't need such "Messiah". The original one wasn't understood by most of people around him and was "banned"... What we need are players - but not alts. Not alts.

Alts are indeed what can kill a community as they can generally never put in "enough" time.

For along time Kazuo was my main and if I am not logged on him then Moraine is usually around, when I am on that is. Kasei - my alt - is usually there for the bashing as that's something that's still quite big with the guild (and something I am fond of) and it's something I am unable to do with my civilians as their PvP skills are close to none.

I'd like to make a commitment to the Civilians again but history has taught us I'd best not.
(I can never put in enough time).
But I'll try to be around a bit more as I'd like to get a pirate thing going... seeing as Moraine is an ex-pirate and all.

Speaking of pirateness, alts are needed! People who can jump on a character in the case of an event which I would like to make a thing that gets done once or twice a month. PvP alts are needed for this but not full blown warriors. Just a few scallywags to annoy those navy people every now and then.

Who knows, perhaps Losis would be interrested as well ;)
(too bad James Rackham isn't around anymore - the elderly among us know who I mean)

I'm sure an updated Civilian section of the tome is in the pipeline and will appear soon, looking fresher and as good as ever.

We have a few new civilians and hopefully a few old faces returning. And yes many civilian characters are alts and yes we need more pure civilian chars.

But i think the civilian element is as "active" as i have known it in my time in Cove (just check out the pages of completed tasks on the boards), even though people say it still struggles... So if this is a bad time then i can't wait to see it thrive! ;)

I'm a pure civvie, and will be for the near future. Military roleplay doesn't appeal, nor does the combat aspect of the game in large, really. To be honest I think we need some more events of general appeal - right now 3/4 of events I cannot attend simply because they are hunts which make no sense for me to be at. I understand that I can help make these events, but some general efforts from all people currently running events would likely help.

A great point. But don't worry, I'm back in game, so prepare for some civ events to come.

I'm the Site Designer of the BoC site.
And I took the Citizenship down originally because..
a) It went inactive
b) The concepts/content was being continously changed

But we've been discussing on the Command Board a revival of its existence on the site.
Watch this space  :D

No use, Eason would delete them I'm sure.
If not him then Dell would!

Still, it'd be nice! :D

Darn hehe :)

I am loving the design of the navy pages!

Can we have a section like that for the civ's... I mentioned awhile ago about adding the civs to the main site. I personally believe BoC should consist of the army and civilains equally, after all Cove needs and economy and I am willing to give my time in developing that area with Qom if required.

People should bug test it frequiently. New members see things that makes recruitment hard, such as linking to older versions of the site (when we actually had a Ryan Greystone!).

I don't quite follow you Jack, do you mean for broken links? What should be look out for exactly?

That in respect to Eason and all of his RL duties aside from taking care about BoC webpage, it's rather outdated.
I.E. recently I've run into pages about it's possible to become an orc in Cove or a bandit - with such groups long inactive.

The secret link?
Thats staying there just because its uber. *Grins*
And you can still become a Bandit or Orc if ye wish.

But aye, anything out of the ordinary ye find, let me know as soon as possible.
I'm no super computer; I can't find every fault. The site has been updated and changed many times since its creation.

But I think you'll all agree I've done a fairly kickass job in making the best website that any UO Guild has ever had  :D

Well for RoE and CoRE guilds, it is by far the best by my opinion.

Yeah it is. The first thing I hear from new players is "very nice web site!". Which is great!

We have the best webpage of them all! It's spiffing, I say!

The only flaw I find with the homepage is.. That the page makes it look like the Navy is better than any of the other squads by having all the links on the side, while all the others are jammed into one called 'squads'..

Title: Re: BoC homepage
Post by: Marcus Kobra on May 10, 2007, 06:23:09 am
*nods* Tyrieal is right... but I have the feeling the NAvy will fade into the background.... just as soon as the NAVY is  a NAVY and doesnt look like Mexicos 4 frigates that are rusted to hell. They once said to a buddy of mine "We have the greatest Navy in the world!! If we get in trouble, we call US Navy!!"

So yes I'm saying the navy shall one day be as mundain as the other squads.. and probably suffer from the same dwindiled numbers that the dragoons suffer from (a squad my character for RP purposes wants to be in) In the end... the NAVYs just got its fresh off the press bluster.... So say that "mage Devision" (I loathe the day) gets int oaffect.... I assure you Eason will have it all sparkling across the front page.

Mmmm, "sparkling" across the page.
That gives me a kool idea *GRIN*

New Baronship song in the making!
(Just need a singer, electric guitar guy, a base player, a drummer, a tune and lyrics. Other than that the song is almost finished!)

An eletric lute and violin would work better in this case..

The idea of music is great except when I look at this at work I dont want it to blast out some tune and then people look at me.
