Task Two: Service to the Citizentry - Part One

On the 26th November, I assisted Axiana Masteen in holding her Joust tournament in Vesper.

During the two hours of my deeds, I signed up contestants, made their introductions, made the brackets and continuously made sure the whole place stays in order.

Task One - Patrol One; Tracking people

[Wednesday, 21st November]

as I already informed you briefly in person, here is a detailed report of what I uncovered yesterday when I tagged along with the Vesperians...

Wednesday, 21st November

I got word that they were missing a person. After my arrival, I got informed that it was none other than the Captains brother, Smithy De Blaze. I offered them to join, mostly to gather more information myself.

Vesperian Captain, Rimeny De Blaze, told us that his brother can be found usually in Minoc, either at the Mines or the city tavern "The Drunken Barnacle". We went there and asked the local bartender if he'd knew anything. Only after a lot of bribing and threatening of physical violence he told us that Smithy De Blaze moved towards the city of Britain to find a new job.

Moving along to the mentioned tavern in Britain, we asked a couple of more people and got approached by a local lass. As she told us, De Blaze's brother was there a couple of days ago, but hasn't been seen for a couple of days after some "Templars" visited the tavern and seemed to follow the missing person around.

Next stop on our list was the tavern in Jhelom, apparently also a place where De Blaze usually could be found. This time, we gathered information quickly from the local bartender who repeated the same story as the lass in Britain.

This lead for Escaflowne to the conclusion that the Yewish and Covian chapter work together. It is as I expected. Someone's trying to frame the church. Make it to us look like the Yewlanders are behind it, just to be promptly sent to Vesper. And the Vesperians get fooled that the Covians and Yewlanders work together and kidnap Vesperians. This is all a plan to incite new hatred and distrust between the three cities. And it's disappointing to see how everyone is taking the bait with their bias.

As we continued to search around Jhelom, we unfortunately found Smithy De Blaze. Unfortunately, because he had already been dead.

Thursday, 22nd November

With the new information I decided to work on my trials and find new clues about this whole shit. Back to square one, without any bias. Soon as we arrived, we encountered a spot where a large group of people were gathering. Far more than just the regular trespassers. By the looks of it, it seemed they were standing there for a while, walking slightly west to Yew only to make a sharp turn towards east. Perhaps the hijackers?

Checking back on Khae's shack, we saw that it was untouched since his disappearance. Just a bit outside, we found a black cloak, poorly woven and drenched from the past weather, but yet not ancient.

Now, I know we all want to point our fingers at each other, but let's not forget the important thing here: The missing people! Including Hoagie and Khae. Who knows how many more people are missing, less known? Pointing blades and arrows at each other will not help.

Here is what we know:

*We know that someone is trying to frame the church
*They want us to believe it was Vesper, while they want Vesper to believe it was us and Yew
*It is possible that Khae had been taken away because he is an elf
*Prime suspects are the women known as Mischief and Ayseh, who were remembered by Miss Masteen when she was found drugged and intoxicated
*It is said that both of these women have contacts to a group of mercs, formed by Kal Shadowhand when he was exiled from Cove
*It is known to high ranked officials, that Mischief has contacts towards drows. Both Esca and Raiden will be able to confirm this

My theory is that the Lloth sisters, or at the very least one of them, is behind this all. The mentioned mercs may or may not be the middle men. And we know Khae flat out hates drows. Pure bloods or half breeds, he never made a secret out of it. And we also know that the Lloth sisters hate elves. The drows would profit from a conflict between Vesper, Cove and Yew. My suggestion is to search the wrongdoers outside the northern realms.

Task One ~ Bring in new recruits!



There are elves vanishing left and right and it is only a matter of time until whoever takes them away will come for our poor recruits. You're to bring new ones in, just in case.

• Hold a recruitment stall in Haven with at least two other guardsmen
• Place at least ten banners around New and Old Haven
• The banners will count towards your current requirements
• Provide a report with scetches below

Task Two ~ Show some Courage!



You are my apprentice and therefor you will leave off your old habits of stealing things from others, instead you will conduct yourself honorably and display your courage!

• Go to the Dungeon of Blood in Ilshenar with at least three other guardsmen
• Collect at least 10.000 gold coins for the Scouts
• The collected gold will count towards your current requirements
• Provide a report with scetches below

Task Thee ~ Who are you again?



They say you want to become a Scout. Well, we'll see about that once you got the cap, but for now, you can show if you even got remotely the talent for it. Being a member of the Light Company is more than just to be sneaky!

• Go to Swaggers Night in a disguise of your choice
• Spend the evening there without revealing your identity and collect any valuable information
• The task will count as a Guardsman Duty
• Provide a report with scetches below

Every provided report will count to your requirements and completing all three tasks will award you with a Guardsman Duty. Best of luck, Watchman!

*Leanne smirked as she took a glance over Serj's report, eying the already prepared scetches and papers to write her own*

Well! Good summary young Eason! Allow me to add some notes myself.


Round One:

Team Red prepared an ambush and won with ease, even with the Captain asleep for almost the whole time. Team Green was not prepared for Falconheart's fast legs and my toxic arrows.


Round Two:

Team Green were now the ambushers but were yet again unable to deal with the tactical superiority of Team Green, ending in total win for Team Green with no one falling.


Round Three:

Teams were newly arranged and it started to become more even. Redguards De Blaze and Reg were able to hold out against the salve of arrows and sword strikes of young Eason, ending in a victory for the Vesperians.


Shire Ruins:

With teams yet again mixed, it was De Blaze, Carolin and myself against Falconheart, Eason and Reg. As an ambush should be, they attacked before we were able to prepare ourselves and thus took down Carolin and myself quickly.


Final Battle:

De Blaze making place for Garrofi, it was once again my teams time to attack the Ruins. Although mostly consisting of melee fighters, Team Eason barricaded themselves in the ruins which made it easy for Carolin and myself to take them out from a safe distance. Once they realized their mistakes, it was already too late and Garrofi took care of Reg who was standing as last person.

Saturday, 10th November

It's been little over a month since my last entry. And since I lost two fingers. That however did not stop me from continuing my work. My beautiful wife had teach me a few basic spells, and I had looked deeper into the art of poison usage. As my old friend Kal had.

One could say I'm enjoying a quiet life right now though. Maybe too quiet! But at least I can share it with my soul mate. She seems to enjoy it too, as she reads a lot of books and spends her time usually at home with me or in the Arcanist Tower dabbling with magic of some sort. I like watching her when she's fully focused on these kind of things, how her nose wrinkles when something doesn't go the way she'd like or how her dimples brighten up the whole room when she smiles.

As nice as this is, I can see that it itches in her fingers as well, to go out there and set something in flames.

But as is my character, there are things that concern me. The silence before the storm, I guess. Good old Facey has been missing for a while! I check his cottage daily to see if he left his horse unattended. I need to win this bet, after all!

But not a sound had been heard lately from inside. Neither him nor his horse. I've set up some posters about him missing. And alas, Serj and my cousin informed me that there was a lass at the crossroads who had apparently seen him getting dragged away by members of the Militia.

This seems odd to me. Why should Yew take the Commander hostage? I guess there are a few shady people there, yes, but this? I know Declan has his dark past... But I doubt he'd do such a thing. Or maybe Aries? She's a Waywatcher, after all. Not exactly a squad known for its loyalty. And perhaps she managed to deceive us all. Maybe she's not that kind gal as she pretends to be. I'll definitely keep my eyes and ears open.

Ilyana thinks its possible for Yew to betray us like that. I wished she'd just let her hatred go for them. I managed to get along with Declan, so why can't you, cousin? These people are not the same that are responsible for your miscarriage. This is not your home shard. Those responsible were on your shard - they died there.

Speaking of Serj and Ilyana. My blue haired cousin seems to have a little crush on Gregor's grandson. Every time during a meal she speaks of nothing but him, since he saved her from drowning in Nu'jelm. Serj here, Serj there. It is quite adorable, albeit a bit annoying. Though I guess I am no better when it comes to my wife.

But if this is going to end well? They may be too different from character...
