Nay need ter panic! We slaughtered all the damn necromancers years ago!

Do you speak with thick accent of a northern lad or lass yet sing with the voice of an angel?

Guards and civilians too need their spirits raising from time to time and what better way to do it than through poetry or song.

Write a short poem or song about some aspect of Covian life. Will you sing of a brave guardsman lost in battle? The fair maid who picks cotton in the fields? Or some damn fine, ruggedly handsome, gloriously brave Grenadier? *coughs*

The choice is yours.

You may well be asked to perform it live... For a few extra shillings.

Conditions.

*Write a short Covian themed song or poem and post it below.
*You may or may not be asked to perform your work before a gathering of Covians.

Reward.

Shillings will be awarded for you work and some extra for a live performance.

There once was a man from Yew,
Who to the town was rather new.
He saw a Yew Guard
Attack a young bard
and said "Stonekeep is like a zoo!"

Nay performance. Not the show type.

To and fro to and fro,
the Covian Navy did row.
Unfurl the sail and swab the deck.
Lieutenant Eason keeps it all in check.

Clip clop clipety clop,
the Covian dragoons do ride,
faster than a turning tide.
Lead by a man full of pride.

Clad in green they move,
Unseen to those around.
The Covian Scouts hide down near the ground,
The one in charge, does bite hard,
So be on your guard.

Their arms are bonze,
their intentions are good.
The Grenadiers protect the Baron,
and they protect him well.
Enemys of the Baron they do fell.

Thats my song , take it or leave it!

In the days of old,
where knights were bold,
and toilets were not invented,
they left their load,
upon the road,
and walked away contented!

My song is about the brave Dragoon Sergeant Hoagie Grayner. It's an upbeat number best accompanied by a fast lute player.

*Sung gently*
Who's that dashing fellow,
The man who rides a horse,
He really knows his swordsmanship,
He never strays off course....

Never strays off course, never strays off course, never strays off course...

*Sung quickly*
I need a Hoagie, *Thunderclap*
I'm holding out for a Hoagie 'til the end of the night,
He's gotta be mean, He's gotta be lean
He has to know how to fiiiight

Somewhere out near altmere,
Is an ogre causing woe,
Here come Hoagie, like a cat,
To make the ogre go

Make the ogre go, make the ogre go, make the ogre goooooo....

I need a Hoagie *Thunderclap*
I'm holding out for a Hoagie 'til the morning comes
Stout of heart, fast as wind,
And such fantastic buns

Such Fantastic Buns, such Fantastic buns, Such fantastic buuuuuns

*Instrumental, leading to fade out

I hope it's up to scratch, I've been told my songwriting leaves a little to be desired.
*Gives a worried look*

*Raiden reads the ditty whilst enjoying a well deserved ale. He nods along to the verse until...*

*coughs* *splutters* *gasps for air*

Lean... Mean... Hoagie... BUNS!!!

*regains his composure*

Quite right too Miss Dubrey... Certainly raised my spirits! *winks*

"The Ballad of Fat Morgan Poole"

The Village green was empty
The people hid away
They crouched in fear and waited
For it was Hunting Day

The dreadful wyrm Valscaroth
Awoke within his lair
His belly grumbled once a year
With hunger hard to bear

So every year a-screaming
He rose into the skies
To feast on frightened cattle
And to gnaw on children's eyes

Until the day Fat Morgan Poole
The barman at the inn
Climbed out to meet Valscaroth
With a bottle and a grin

Valscaroth roared and laughed with fire
For Morgan was so small
Valscaroth thought him easy prey
Though only 4 foot tall

But Morgan was a clever lad
He held the bottle high
"In here I've got your Mother, wyrm"
Told Morgan with a cry

Valscaroth twitched his mighty tail
Which knocked the two houses down
He looked at him with baleful eyes
And made a loathsome sound

"I don't believe you" quoth the drake
Drawing in a breath
"But you'll make a lovely entrée to
My barbecue of death"

Morgan was a fearless chap
"You asked for it," said he
He pulled the stopper from the flask
And shook the mother free

She rose and grew to 50 feet
Her scales were old and grey
"SON" she cried "You naughty boy,
You locked your Mum away"

Valscaroth roared and turned and fled
And flew so far away
So his mother couldn't nag him
About not writing every day

The mother snorted "Naughty boy"
And gobbled Morgan down
She ate up all the Village folk
And burned it to the ground

She flew away to hunt some cows,
Which proves I think you'll find
That its probably best not to mess
With hungry dragonkind

Aye, a grand tale Recruit and a lesson to us all...

If ye see a dragon slay it!

Alas fine a tale as it is, I can only award Shillings to civilians.

But good stuff nonetheless.

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the wages are low, and expectations high,
And you want to advance, but harder you must try,

When Commander is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You might succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far.

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse, that you must not quit.

Alas, due to business commitments I will not be able to attend the poetry night on Wednesday eve.

As a man of culture and refinement I would have loved to have taken part.

However, before I set sail on business, I would leave you with this little ditty!

I hear tell of the warriors from Vesper,
'Tis rumoured that they're all cross-dressers,
'Tis an awesome sight, when these warriors do fight,
But at night, they call eachother Vanessa!

Ho Ho!
