16  In Character Boards / In Character Board / New Haven Contract ~ Day 5 Friday. on: March 27, 2009, 09:07:01 pm
Patrol To New Haven.

Attended by:

JT, Mercenary.

With no-one awake I headed to New Haven to have a look around. I walked in the shadows at first, slipping between buildings and behind trees but with no sign of hostile forces I made my presence known and had a proper look around.

I walked the walls and placed a big banner at the main gate.

17  In Character Boards / In Character Board / [Report] Locating The Drow on: March 06, 2009, 09:14:56 pm
I saw the Commander's note for stealthers to scout the lands of Malas in search of the stronghold of the Drow Vierna and her followers. I headed out of Luna's south entrance and made my way along the southern road as per the Commander's instructions.

I soon came to the long bridge mentioned and encountered the brigands that roam the area. They were Drowkin but poorly armed bandits rather than the well armed warriors we have encountered so far. They were easily desposed of and I continued down the road. A little too far, so I sought directions at a hostel and made my way through the woods to the west of it.

I crossed the bridge and took to the shadows among the trees. Something made me feel uneasy. The atmosphere seemed dark and forboding. I made my way slowly and carefully through the trees, winding between them and doubling back to disguise my tracks. As I peered from the treeline I saw three beastly constructions.

I made sketches of each of them though I could not gain entry to any. I believe I have discovered their whereabouts Sir. My drawings are enclosed below.

Patrolling The North Road.

After making the woods safe Estel and I patrolled along the northern road towards the portal where we would start our banner laying.

More undead roamed free and ettins and trolls also fell to our bows. Estel is turning into something of a markswoman and my sickness seems to have passed. *coughs*

Patrolling The Shire.

Finding no-one at the barracks Estel and I stalked around the shire making sure all was well. With many guards at the games in Vesper it was as well we did as the undead had forced their way out of the graveyard and were roaming free in the woods.

Estel and I took care of them and then took a stroll around the memorial park.

Attended by:

Jon Trent, Junior Guardsman (led)
Hoagie, Sergeant
Kelly Sanderson, Sergeant
Takeamada, Junior Guardsman
Go-Hei, Watchman
Marvin Grimpblad, Watchman
Delferium, Watchman

Ileana Leontine, Citizen
Estel Aralle, Commoner

With the Captain's orders to keep a watchful eye on our citizens and to restrict travel in and out of Cove due to the undead attacks and the sickness that has followed I gathered the available guardsmen at the town gates to post a sentry.

I hadn't been feeling too great myself, coughing a lot but I knew I had to do my job so while I took Estel and Takeamada, the other archers in search of game for hides and meat I left Sergeant Hoagie to oversee the construction of the sentry post.

My bow and my legs too felt heavier as we returned to the barricade. Estel set about cooking the meat we had butchered for the guards and to hand out to civilians and I looked over the now manned sentry post.

I was still coughing and felt fatigued but I couldn't let it show. Estel was fussing around me, asking me to rest but I couldn't and eventually i stumbled and fell to my knees coughing and unable to catch my breath. Sergeant Sanderson ordered that I be taken to the healers, so Takeamada and Estel helped me inside the gates to the healer's hut but, with the sickness there wasn't a bed to spare.

Takeamada managed to lift me onto his shoulder and with the help of Estel they took me back through the sentry post and to the new Covian hospital. Once there I was ordered to rest on a bed while Ileana mixed a medicinal broth for me to drink. Things got a bit hazy here but i remember Estel's kind face looking awfully worried at me.

After a little rest and medicine I felt well enough to sit up and although Ileana wanted me to spend the night in the hospital, once I was rested enough to stand Estel and I made our way home slowly. My strength was returning and the cough subsided. I still felt fatigued but if i took a turn for the worse there were gifted elven healers in the 'Quarter'.

Once home I was swiftly asleep and woke today to pen my report, feeling much better... *coughs*

*small spittle and blood stain on the report*

The "Aftermath" continues as a guardsman was taken ill at his post this eve. Junior Guardsman Trent suffered from weariness and coughing fits before collapsing briefly from fatigue during a sentry at the town gates.

A commoner, Estel Aralle and Junior Grenadier Takeamada helped Trent to the healers hut inside the town limits but no beds were free. Citizens struck down by the unknown disease which plagues our town filled the healer's to breaking point.

The sick guard was then half carried by his helpers to the newly established Covian hospital where he was tended to by Estel and Ileana Leontine, who concocted a medicinal brew for him to drink.

After a short lie down the young guardsman's strength started to return and the coughing ceased enough for him to leave the hospital with the aid of the elf girl and return home for some bed rest.

When will the sickness end? And is a cure in sight?

Patrol Of Cove Town.

Attended by:
Hoagie, Sergeant (led)
Jon Trent, Junior Guardsman
Estella Aralle, Commoner

After sightings of undead, wolves, brigands and worse around Cove the sarge led us into town to make sure all was well.

The busy docks and banking district were safe but we heard strange noises as we approached the Covian fields.

We stumbled across brigands and undead at the lighthouse but soon beat them down with Estelle being very brave with her bow, though we did have some bumps and bruises ourselves.

26  In Character Boards / Old Events / Soup Is Served! 8pm GMT, Tuesday 27/05/08 (TONIGHT!!!) on: May 27, 2008, 12:56:48 pm
What: Soup is being served in the tavern.

Where: The Green Goblin Tavern, Cove.

After her escape from captivity Estel has been working hard to learn the ways of men and her kinfolk the elves, but most of all she has worked hard to fit into Cove and work hard for the town that gave her a new life so she can be close to her love JT.

The pretty elf girl was weened on Carlotta's soup in the tavern while recovering from her imprisonment by the orcs and has now learned the art of soup making and wishes to share her new found skill in the kitchen with her fellow Covians.

So soup is served in the tavern from the eighth hour this evening. Why not take some time off duty with your fellows and relax while slurping some soup!

Return.

JT moved swiftly through the forest, weaving in and out of the rows of trees and undergrowth. He was trying to keep his excitement at returning home and seeing Estel under control but he felt like he would burst as he now set out on a headlong sprint towards the Elven Quarter.

Entering their home he found Estel wasn't there. She'd probably be off with Gwen or Draxy he thought as he slumped onto their couch now feeling drained and fatigued from his long journey home.

He didn't know if he was dreaming or awake as he saw Estel's pretty face before him. He had dreamt so much of her while he'd been away and in many of those dreams the presence of Estel had seemed so real, almost like her appearance was more than a dream.

"You're back!" She beamed.
"I am!" He replied now shaking himself from his semi-slumber.
"I missed you so much JT"
"And I you melamin."

They sat and talked of their time apart. JT could share little of his mission to far off lands but Estel had much to tell of the time spent with her new friends in the Elven Quarter. She had been working hard with her bow and learning the ways of elves and men.

JT produced a delicate paper crafted bird from his pack and Estel's face lit up at seeing the gift and it promptly took pride of place in their home. Their reunion however would be cut short for now as duty called in Cove so they both made their way to the Covian barracks.

After the long battle with the harpies in Ilshenar JT and Estel returned home. JT had one more gift from his travels given to him by his mother when he had stopped in Skara on his homeward journey. He held out his upturned fist, slowly unclenching it to reveal an old inexpensive ring. Estel's face lit up once again with surprise and delight.

She slipped the ring on the finger it fitted best and they embraced and kissed before rising slowly and taking him by the hand, Estel led JT inside from the balcony.

Estel was sleeping soundly when JT got home. He walked wearily back outside to stand under the waterfall hoping the cool water that rained down on him would wash away the feeling in his gut after the night's slaughter.

The emptiness he felt wasn't out of remorse for the orcs he had slain, they were a curse upon the lands, but was caused by the fury with which he had fought and the ruthlessness with which he had killed.

He started to remove his armour, dropping it at his feet in the pool and began to wash away the grime of the night's battle. Estel's former master must have been amongst the pile of orc dead left in their underground fortress... He had to be. Not a single orc shaman was left alive as the band of Covians had sacked their sanctuary.

As he rubbed his aching muscles and ran his fingers through his wet hair he hoped the orc's hold over Estel would be broken, surely it must? He looked down to his feet, his armour stained with gore and gristle had turned the pool more pink than blue. He sighed and set about scrubbing it.

He had just finished cleaning the last piece when he heard Este's light footfalls behind him. He turned swiftly around to see her beaming at him.

"You're back!"
"I am!" He smiled softly.
"How do you feel little one? Did you have any more memories return to you?"
"Numa."

His hopes of her former master being among the orc dead that night seemed dashed. The young guardsman sagged, his eyes hollow and skin pale.

"More memories?" He asked.
"No, no more. Why?" She shook her head.

Disappointed he took her in his arms, burying his face so she would not see the tears in his eyes. The shaman still lived.

"Amin mela lle tithen pen."
"Amin mela lle vithel JT."
30  In Character Boards / In Character Board / The Slaying Of Orc Mages on: April 20, 2008, 01:41:15 pm
Attended by:

JT - Jon Trent, Junior Guardsman. (leading)
Hoagie, Sergeant.
Kas Valentine, Regular Guardsman.
Thomas Sendrich, Regular Guardsman.
Marvin Grimpblad, Guardsman Recruit.

As the guardsmen lined up at the barracks I explained the mission. We we're going to the underground orc fortress in search of orcish mages who we would kill along with anything else that stood in our way. Estel has lived in fear too long and the orc curse needed to br broken.

Our mission explained with Sir Nicholas Bashford looking on.

When we arrived at the orc cave I reminded everyone that the orc mages were our main targets and then we ventured inside. We made our way deeper and deeper working well to bring down our foes, but still no orcish mages faced us.

The slaying of the orc mages.

Eventually we found their lair and slaughtered them. The greenskin shamen were ruthlessly cut down and their vile hiding place sacked. We continued further and further into the underground fortress looking for more orc magic users but none were found.

The rescue party heads out.

Just as we were retracing our steps back to the entrance we received word of a recruit cut off in Covetous, so once we were back outside in the forest i asked our own magic user to open up a portal and off we went to rescue the recruit.
