I just saw the movie. It was well made, but I can't help to feel that it sucked. But the spartans were all good looking hunks while the Persians were giants and monsters? And not as historically correct as I had hoped, but again a well made movie.

Based on a comic book.

One of the bits I loved most in that movie was the part where Leonidas met the Arcadians and their captain complains about the lack of Spartans in comparison to his soldiers.
Leonidas asks a few of the Arcadian soldiers what their profession is.

He then asks the Spartans.
"Spartans, what is your profession?"
RWHUAAARGH!
"See? I brought more soldiers than you!"

I haven't had chance to see the movie yet but i did get the graphic novel for xmas and have known about the battles of Thermoplyae, Platea and Salamis (spellings) since being a child.

I think that it is awesome that the scene with the Arcadians plus the classic dialogue...
"Tonight we dine in hell" & "Then we shall fight in the shade" along with the Spartan lore of women telling their men to return with their shields or on them have actually made it down 25 centuries to end up in a blockbuster movie!

I bet Leonidas had no clue that he'd end up being portrayed by some dodgey Scottish actor!  Roll Eyes Tongue

The rhino and Elephant scenes kinda well.... the only ones I didnt like!  Just casue I wanted to see people get squishedededededededed!!! YA!!

from the piccy, you can see their "armour" is historically defunct. The Spartans forged their helmets and armour so that they'd scare anyone shitless.

But it looks like a decent film.
