121  Element boards / Completed Citizen Tasks / Re: Bows For Our Boys! on: October 12, 2008, 05:49:20 pm
Well Seeing as payment for that cleaning job was going to take awhile. I set off to arm the army! I don't keep lumber laying about so I had to go out into the woods and knock down about a hunerd a tree or two....  Its blasted hard work knockn' em down! Once I had some logs I set down in a clearing to whittle 'em down to a strong yet slightly flexable shape! I bent the bows and stung em, even used that special string I got in Trinsic! Suppose to make them a touch more deadlier! "Warning: Sudden user death may occur. Operate only with a life insurance policy purchased from Trinsic insurance agency."  Whats all that about!?

Eh no bother! Once I had about 18 made I headed back only to realize of the limitations on the order. Well I'd turn in 10 and make a tidy profit on the rest!
I received 20 gold each for the 8 extras I had and made my way out after I turned em over to Mister Stubs  Gayner Hoagie.

122  Element boards / Completed Citizen Tasks / (Report) Cleaning The Town Hall on: October 12, 2008, 04:43:36 pm
*Maccen arrived at the Covian docks without a coin to his name and a serious thirst for a good ale and a warm meal. He tread to Kobra's home expecting to find the man or one of those annoying kids..... He found the place empty and most of the furniture covered with sheets. The troughs and even the wine kegs where empty! Worse still there was no food to be had! Needing a bite and something to quench his thirst, Maccen concluded he'd have to do some honest work! He set off for Cove and soon found a task posted. *

"Cleaning is it? Borrrrrriiiing....... Arg, Suppose a mans got to eat? Who knows, maybe they have something good I can mooch."

*Maccen then proceeded to the Town Hall, And what a dusty place it was indeed. There where some prints in the dust but otherwise the place seemed abandoned!
He proceeded to give the place a good wipe down. Soon he could hardly stand all the dust and retreated upstairs to see what needed done.*

"Huh? Whats all this here? Looks like some sorta class room...."

*Maccen quickly inspected the place and decided to pluck a few arrows from the table and floor for his own quiver.*

"Arkay's Archer's eh? Ain't heard of them before! Must be some Militia, or mercs.... Seeing as they haven't touched the place they shouldn't be needing these!"

*He then went back to work dusting and putting things away. He gave the grime covered windows a good scrub. Satisfied he began sweeping, moving from top to bottom and swept his way down the stairs and out the doors.*

"Gee they'd best pay well for this boring grubby work! Maybe I should scrape the the crud off the bricks? Eh nah... they probably aren't paying well enough for that!"

*Maccen then headed off to find someone to pay him for his hard, time consumming work!*

*The personal account of Maccen J. Korten to an unidentified persons*

It was getting constricting. All this servating for Marcus.... So I stacked out a few homes. You'd never beleive it. I found a home right. All abandoned near Yew. I stole inside, and managed to rumage the personal files of the owner, This place was huge! Huge I tell ya. So after I made a copy of the land deed.... I went off to Nujlem for the races. Not dog races, or foot races. Boat races! I had a little more for the wager than most can handle... but I know the right guys! I used the deed as collateral and placed my bet on the best boat crew.  It paid off well! Due to a clerical error.... one of the participants did not have cash at the Nujelm bank! Haha, he had to give up his housing deed to cover the cost. With the bet being illigal he couldn't negotiate with the bank for the money sooo I aquired a new home for Marcus. Not bad for a days work. I took a loan using the forged deed as colateral and set off for Altemere coincedently! A few repairs later an I showed Marcus my gift to him! A home 4 times the size of his previous! Seems I'm off scott free Boss.

What jobs do you have for me now that my debt are out of our way?

{OOC: This information is suplemental to how Marcus has his new home, it is not considered general knowledge!}

After having seen a request for arrows. my own primary weapon, I decided to help my fellow archers within the army! I set out about the Shire chopping the less healthy trees and picking up sturdy dead wood. I did this first because the wood is one... still useful and two... its good for the forest to collect it! After I had as much as I could carry I whisked them off to my safety deposit box and went out for more! I soon had enough wood and whittled them down into the straightest shafts I could! I mean its not easy.... and I'm hardly as knowledgeable as most apprentices at those fancy schools! I think my works alright though.... just learn to shot around corners!

That done, I needed alot of feathers. Theres no place better than Covetous! I went there and slew many of those feathery daemons! Mighty Lithos grant my bow strength! I slew many of them and eventually had the feathers I needed. I trudged back to Cove with the burden and started the fletching process. It much more delicate than carving shafts! I had to pull the feathers apart and carefully apply them to the shafts. Its hard work. I finished by wrapping animal sinew around the ends of the feathers and shaft and bound them together.

Job finished I made a promissory note with the bank and brought them to the barracks. The only member of the army there was that stubby Gayner fellow. Can't say I like him much so  did not stay to negotiate a price!
I do expect to be paid, either in coins or in a one time favour! Nothings frees!!

I was looking through my Coin Purse and found myself scrapping the stitches at the bottom! Dead broke and without an Ale or even a loaf of bread! I quickly decided that work was in order! I went quickly over to City Hall to read what work was pending. I soon saw that bandages where needed and that Crowns would be awarded for each bandage brought in, including the possibilities of shillings! I quickly walked to Vesper... albeit hooded and with abit of a faked limp, and booked passage for Trinsic! Having been a dock worker before I was familiar with sea fairing and quickly offered my services in exchange for this costly trip. I arrived on Transit's shores by the end of the second day! I bedded down at the Trinsic Rose and the next day started my trek into the Lost Lands. I soon made my way to Delucia! Ah a hunters dream with all that lush verdant fields and steppes! Beautiful!

I quickly acquired shears from the local tailors and gained the knowledge of where the Shepherd's had their flocks! When asked for my reasons I simply said I was from Yew and dashed off with the merchant calling behind me to nay molest their sheep! Oh fun! I soon found a flock of the fluffpuffs! I set about discreetly sheering them, right under their shepherd's nose!! The woman never had a chance, nor did her fluffpuffs! I soon had much wool! But now I had to manufacture cloth! I didn't have a clue as how I might do this so I went back to the tailor and after some awkward conversation about stroking fluffpuffs the woman showed me how I might spin the wool into thread and then into cloth upon the loom! I soon had many bolts of cloth which the woman complimented me on. She said it was the tightest weave she had seen! I informed her I was very good with my hands and gave her  a very generous wink. Oh the blush on her cheeks...... Ahem, Yes I soon cut up the cloth and came up with about 500 bandages! I delivered the bundle to Captain... Marmalade, Morgan, Murdock, Muldoon... Captain M ! And A Mister Takmeaday Paid me for the bandages! 1500 Crowns! Not a bad profit! Ale oh sweet sweet Ale here I come!

128  Element boards / Completed Citizen Tasks / Re: Furniture for The Kobra Homestead on: July 22, 2008, 09:15:08 am
Task complete/canceled as per Mister Kobra!
129  In Character Boards / Character Profiles / Maccen Korten on: July 18, 2008, 11:25:50 pm
Name: Maccen Jepta Korten
Race: Human
Height: 5'8
Age: 27
Eyes: Green
Hair: Brown
Place of Birth: Windmeere Woods,NE Vesper

Appearance:
Maccen is a thin and wiry young man. His muscles are toned and stringy rather than huge and bulking. He bounces lightly on his 5'8 140 stone frame. His bright green eye are keen and stand out on his deeply tanned skin. Aswell as his muscles he has small nimble hands and fingers but a firm grip from firing his bow with expert aim.  The man has few physical scars, just small ones on his hands and a few longer ones on arms and legs from the bush.

Work Description:
Maccen is a man who loves money, nearly as much as he loves the wild, possibly even more than his love for young women! His work ethic comes from how generous the salary he can make, being directly proportional to his own calculations. In the past he has been a mercenary with La Poche D'Argent, in addition to this background he has worked the docks in Vesper. Presently, after having suffered an "early retirement" from La Poche, he works as a huntsman; tracking, killing, skinning, and selling the meats and hides for proffit.

Personality:
Maccen is an upbeat sort with a "Carpe Diem" attitude that belies the fact that many men (most of them wealthy) want him very dead! He is a flirtatious male and often found chatting up the ladies, at least until hes caught with his hand in the cookie jar by said laddie's husband or father! He never minds helping friends but from anyone else he generally expects some form of compensation. He reveres nature as Avatars gift to mankind and will do anything to preserve it!

Background:
Maccen was born in the wilds of the Windmeere Woods at the shrine of Spirituality. It was on the day of his birth that his father died. Of course no one had planned to give birth to the boy out in the wild! They had fled from their home to seek shelter from the Solen.  His father, upon his dying breath, made a final plea to the Almighty to save his wife and child. It was then that the shrine suddenly became overgrown with thorns blocking out the rest of the Solen.

His mother would move to Vesper to raise him but later around the age of 10 they would move back to their small home in Windmeere to escape the crowded city.

By age 15 Maccen was very much a rogue, Stealing food and small amounts of coin to feed himself and his mother. It was one day at his usual tricks that he was caught picking the pocket of a merchant. The merchant would have had the boy arrested had not a dock worker stepped forward and agreed to pay the fine.  Maccen practically idolizes the 18 year old who saved him from that day forward and taking his advice, stops stealing and earns an honest wage on the docks.

At age 18 he follows his idol to join "La Poche D'Argent" and starts a dubious career as a mercenary. He would work with his friend for nearly a year when they would part ways as his idol moved on to a diffrent group. Maccen would make a name for himself until the age of 24 when he would "retire" to avoid being killed. At this point he returns to Windmeere and becomes a huntsman, learning the ways of the forest as his father did.

Reputation:
Maccen is a womanizer through and through and is best known for being caught in the bowers of wealthy men's daughters.

Motivation/goals:
To preserve nature first and foremost. Money and women are his only other motivations.
He also wishes to become a master of his bow.

Quotes:
"So. when am I getting paid again?"
"Do you suppose we can renegotiate?"
"Really M'liege, I thought she was yer sister! Not yer daughter!"

131  OOC Boards / OOC Board / Armour restrictions for civilians? on: July 18, 2008, 10:41:49 am
Just wondering if Civilians have armour restirctions that go beyond no magic/runics/enhanced, etc.

I'm wondering if certai nresistances must be below certain limits or if there are material lmitations. Seeing as my character is a hunter and intends to fight the vanguard in hope of collecting bounties.... Armour might become a neccesity.

Thanks in advance for the assistance!
