Citizens of Cove,
Today has been a day the bards will sing of for years to come. It all began when Cove was invited to attend the Royal Council of King Blackthorn, hosted at foreboding Castle in the north of Britain. Swiftly and in good order, the Covian delegation embarked, making our way to the appointed meeting place. Naturally the vast Covian host far outnumbered the few decrepit Trinsicans who were sadly haunting the halls. While they were basking in our glory, it was to our immediate horror we discovered that despite fairly and resoundingly winning the titles of Governor of Cove and Lord of Vesper, there was no seat allocated on the Council for Baron Octiovus and Covian interests. Seats had been set aside for Yew, Britain, Moonglow, Jhleom, and almost all of the major cities of Britannia, but none for Cove! Tactfully and graciously, Baron Octiovus raised this issue with King Blackthorn, but he offered only to 'consider' a Covian seat - despite
NO OTHER governor even deigning to show their face, save that of Moonglow!
This grave insult could not go unanswered, and it was at this point that the King revealed himself not only to be a tyrant denying the will of the Covian people, but also a witch! In a fit of unprovoked fury, he transformed himself into a terrible crimson dragon and severely wounded Grenadier Delcarakdur. Through Covian grit and steel he was subdued, and when once again the question of our rights was broached, he yielded, flying to Cove to correct the errors of his ways and to erect a statue in honour of the Baron and of the Covian people. We can only hope that he has been given food for thought and grants us our rightful place on the Royal Council. We will never submit to a hollow Council that denies Cove its seat!
With 'King' Blackthorn dealt with, a recruitment parade in the town of Luna was held - with many of the local peasants becoming so awestruck at the sight of the Baronship they signed up on the spot: recruits Tingleith and Dalketh joined the grand Covian procession as it returned to Cove proper to perform the Sunday Parade. Due to many of the Covian officer corps neglecting their duties, and also owing to the
treason of Cowin, the parade started with a grim turn. Cowin was administered ten lashes for falsely claiming the title of Captain, and for opposing the rightful accession of Baron Octiovus in the Vesperian and Covian elections. The following command changes were made:
- Former Commander Shadwell was demoted to Sergeant
- Exploring Officer Raiden Morana was demoted to Senior Guardsman
- Former Sergeant Kelly Sanderson was demoted to Senior Guardsman
- Former Grenadier Cowin was demoted to Regular Guardsman
With the recruits formally enlisted, and demotions fairly and justly handed out, Cove nobly strode forth to destroy the mysterious "Golden Man" which King Blackthorn had sought to alert us of prior to his outburst. Naturally, with impeccable Covian punctuality, we arrived just in the nick of time to turn the tide in this glorious and epic battle. Unfortunately, all paintings of this event have been lost due to the demonic nature of the encounter! So mysterious is the Golden Man, it is almost as if no Covian soldier has seen him or even went into the rift at all. Nevertheless, it is another fine Covian victory that will be spoken of for the ages.
