Can I get in on that? Missing stuff (... and I thought UO was getting old when I was in BoC circa 2006-7...)

Damnit Linaeus, I'd thought I'd be top of the pile for at least a week.

What are you all up to these days?

Sorry for not being able to make it, I've been without a computer for a while now (chipset fan failure). This is a public computer so I can still stay on the forums. Sad to have missed it, and cheers to Axiana for another excellent event.
5  OOC Boards / OOC Board / Re: Suggestions Please on: August 13, 2008, 03:22:31 pm
Personally I'd like to see it become a kind of 'Baron's Court', combining several ideas mentioned in this thread.  It could be used for court proceedings, negotiation with other guilds, promotion parades (with the top of the barracks becoming completely a training ground as suggested by Takeamada. In general, it could act as the main administrative building in Cove... plus, in a shameless plug, having the courts near the library will help for reference to law texts Tongue

To respond to Graem, it can be multi-purpose as above. A clear central court can be decorated for court proceedings, or feasts, or whatever as necessary.

Classics; people're too obsessed with the ability to do what they want with their homes, and instead of making something good, they make a structural representation of the Rocky Horror Show.
Not in Cove generally, thank goodness.

I like large 3 stories, but to be honest a good house can be tiny and a horrible one huge. I'd agree with Linaeus that having more room for embellishments is nice; I tried to add some to the library and there simply wasn't room while still having room for the books!

How come I can't release items within locked down containers anymore...?

"You can't release an item within a container"

Or something like that, now I have to release the whole container....?

ALARM BELLS ARE RINGING WILLY ! Cheesy
No idea, but it was a pain in the ass while I was setting up my library. Hope they fix it soon.

9  Element boards / Citizen Board / Cove Library Reopens on: July 28, 2008, 04:23:59 pm
The Covian Library

After the collapse of the old library, Cove once again has a repository for literary treasures (and some not so much)! The new library is much closer to Cove, located directly north of the Barracks. The books are split into fiction on the ground floor with non-fiction on the second, and a reading area/garden on the roof.

Membership & Services
The books are available for all to read, but we offer membership which allows access to food, drink, and games in the rooftop garden. This is free to all Covians, though donations are of course welcome [OOC: You will be friended to the house which allows you to access the rooftop containers.] Aside from membership, we offer a wide range of services:

  • We can make copies of any book you need for 25 gold coins (price of book included), going up to 400gp if you need it to be permanent (red-leafed);
  • We can track down any particular book you need for a nominal fee;
  • Assistant Librarian Imogen can sell you blank books (20gp), scrolls (50gp for 5), maps (10gp), and calligraphy/scribe pens (10gp);
  • We can purchase unwanted books from you, or buy books you've written (see 'Book Purchases' below).

Book purchases
The Covian Library is interested in purchasing books of all kinds, provided that we do not already have a copy on the shelves. If you have a book to sell or are interested in writing a book (the library offers commissions for new books) please contact the Librarian, Miss Leontine, pigeon cage 401-552-764.

Library Index
Below is an index of all texts currently in the Library:

The location of shelves on the ground and first floors are as follows:

We hope to see some of you using the library soon. For all enquiries, please send a pigeon to Miss Leontine at 401-552-764.

Bwahaha, I used to have the same 'purple llama' thing... I wondered for ages why people were riding on purple llamas, though when they actually turned out to be giant blue beetles it hardly lessened my confusion...

n00bs.
They usually know how to play the game (yes, I know newbie is separate, but n00bs to me are newbies and obnoxious) so that doesn't really fit.

I find it amusing how we are all so against "Roxxors your Soxxors" type people Smiley

Well, yes. Since there are nice people who talk in leet speak, would you prefer 'griefers'?
13  OOC Boards / OOC Board / Re: Anyone looking for a home? on: July 24, 2008, 05:44:08 pm
If it's okay I'd like to place a house there. My current one is way, way too far away from Cove.

EDIT: I've placed a house in the spot, but if it's needed more by someone else I'll transfer it over. This way prevents any 'ROXXORS YER SOXXORS' acquisitions..
14  Element boards / Completed Citizen Tasks / Re: [Burgher's Trial] Ileana Leontine on: July 10, 2008, 06:27:49 pm
[OOC: Ohoh! Wasn't expecting shillings for this. But thanks! Also, apologies to Kelly for how long this has taken to put up. Real life can be a pain sometimes.]

Ileana slung her bag of herbs onto the desk, followed shortly by two notebooks. Her conversation with Kelly  had been a while ago now, but events had conspired to keep her away from her task. Ileana removed the face mask and other healers' gear she was wearing and chucked them into a nearby iron chest. She had been tending to the sick for the last week; thankfully she was not ill, but as it invariably does being near the suffering had worn down her spirit.

Now that she looked back on it, she saw even in her wearied state that the conversation had been very useful. She probably had enough to write a sufficiently detailed biography on Mister Valentine; information for Mister Greystone was coming along, although Mister Maktoum was as elusive as when she had began - glancing over her notes, all she had for the latter was that he was bald. Leaning back in her chair she chewed the end of her quill thoughtfully. Who do I need to speak to next? Misters Morana and Tiberius, I think...

Sorry you see it that way!  Was not my intent.  Any way it was just a thought, not set in stone, nor approved!  Was just testing the water so to speak!  Sorry!
There's no need to be sorry. I'm just giving my opinion on why I'm not so sure it's a good idea, of course everyone wants to hear new ideas, and it's good your providing them. There's nothing to be sorry for.
