Dear Kal,

I hope this letter finds you before it is too late.  I know I should of trusted you in telling you this sooner but I always hoped it would never come to be.  Like you my family has also been plagued by drow, such is the way of elves since we cast them from ourselves.  My Grandmother was cursed by the High priestess of the first house many years before my mother was born.  This curse has since consumed me from the inside and I feel I can no longer contain it's effects. I will try to leave Cove before it takes too much of a hold but I think I still have some time left to make things right again between us.

Dearest Raiden,

I do not know how much longer I have before this curse finally consumes me so I am writing this to you now.  Things have already begun to become too much and last night in the tavern spelt the beginning of the end.
I will try to explain this in terms you might understand as I know you do not believe much in the ways of elves and drow.   Over two centuries ago my grandmother was cursed by the high priestess of the first house in one of the Drow cities.  This means she was very powerful and considered high in Lloth's regard by her people. The curse she placed on my grandmother would turn her children and their children into little more than what you might call soul less murderers before they reached their first century, which is full adulthood for us.  It is for this reason my family lived in Sanctuary.

But I believed the curse could be cured and left and studied as much as I could about every other faith, races, cultures and languages to find any evidence of Drow attacks on them.  It seems you humans have the greatest defence against her, love and compassion.  Which is exactly what the curse destroys in my family.  I almost achieved that here in Cove with Darek until he was taken away from me and since then I have just fallen into despair and the curse has taken a hold of me again.

If anything happens to me then it will not be the fault of anyone and maybe even a good thing.  I am sorry this is no condolence for you and I will try to leave before the worst happens.

20  In Character Boards / Old Events / How to Question - Thursday 12th - 9PM on: November 11, 2009, 04:02:54 am
What is it? - Lesson on questioning
Time - 9pm
Where - Barracks
What to bring? - An open mind and willingness to listen and learn.

How do you go about questioning an enemy or even an ally?  It is easy to say the wrong thing or make the wrong action which can cause problems for the future.

I shall be giving a lesson on tactical ways to get the most from your questions for all those who wish to attend.

You know you play too much when you actually spend more time tidying your ingame house than your real one or bedroom? Or you would rather do in game grinding/crafting than actually do things you have to do in real life... damn.

*Grins* or you want a design house button that just moves everything to a crate and you don't have to tidy up.

You know you've played UO too much when in your dreams you think you can hide and stealth just by careful breathing...
24  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Thursday's Joint Training with Yew. on: November 06, 2009, 02:18:11 pm
This evening it was my turn to lead the joint training session and although there was not as large a turnout as on previous occasions we still managed to have a good session.

I started with a warmup run from the Barracks to the Covian field, followed by a boxing match.  Where Elizabeth made short work of Kal, probably due to the ducking of blows that Arcanists must learn to do.

After this I divided the teams into two fairly equal teams and told them the rules of the first training.  Capture the flag. Each team had a flag bearer who was not allowed to fight and the aim of the game was to capturer the other team's flag.  Interesting tactics were used on both teams but the first round went to the copper brown team.   On the second round I added the rule that the flag bearer could not run so to make it a little harder and allowed those injured to rejoin after a rest.  This time the red team won as they managed to take down most of the other side before claiming their flag.

The final event was a knock out tournament on the obstacle course built on the field.  Using the bagballs that were bought by Delferium I added obstacles to the field.  There were three rounds of four with the winner of each going through to the next round.  The overal winner was Shunji from the Guardsman Militia fighting against Daven and Reefer, winners from the previous two rounds.

Lastly was a free for all which was suprisingly won by the new recruit Sabal.

You know when you've played UO too much when your maths lecturer says divide the loot into ratios and you start thinking of piles of gold coins.

Unless you want to keep failing hiding all the time then you do need higher hiding.
I think the best archer templates have 120 Archery as then your sure never to miss a shot really.

I've started changing Aliryl into a ninja/fencer but its going to take a long time as I don't really spend time training skills.

I made my eldest son up as a zombie this year, he scared his little brother with the amazing makeup job I did.  I'll try and get a picture up.
