Greetings Junior,

Ye've been making steady progress under the mentorship o' Sergeant Keres, which is a miracle in itself eh? *smirks faintly* I've been impressed by yer displays in the recent battles, trainin's and patrols and Keres has nay put ye off becomin' one of the Baron's own... So let's see what ye can do.

Here are yer trials:

Discipline.

Men stand or fall depending on their discipline. If they heed orders they stand if they don't keep themselves or their equipment in good order they fall.

Lead a discipline based training drill. Make sure the men are fit with no slackers, check their uniform and weapons are in good repair and that your orders are followed to the letter. Hand out punishment to those who do not stand up to the test.

~ Your training session will last for 30 minutes.
~ Test the men's fitness and check their equipment. Make sure they know their orders and end the training with a free for all or paired combat last man standing.
~ At least 4 other Guardsmen must attend this training.
~ Post a full report below

Brotherhood.

With Baronial Escorts becoming less and less frequent, the Grenadiers' ability to carry them out effectively also diminishes. As the Baron is often unavailable, you'll be escorting Abigail Keres on one of her many (mis)adventures in search of rare and endangered tomes and scrolls.

- Contact Watchman Keres when you're ready to complete this task.
- Ensure her safety at all times as she wander aimless into danger in her never ending search for questionably important scraps of parchment.
- As there're likely to be very few Grenadiers to accompany you, give the guardsmen present a few tips regarding guarding an important person in hostile or potentially hostile territory.

Loyalty.

With the recent influx of new recruits, it would seem our ranks are looking rather healthy. However this is no reason to sit back and become lax on recruitment, as I'm sure you'll agree!

You are to organise a recruitment parade to New Haven. An outpost should be constructed, and leaflets distributed to the fair citizens gathered there. In addition to this, you shall be required to do three recruitment runs, each seeing you drop at least ten leaflets and runes, as well as our fine Covian flag. You may choose these locations as you see fit, but do try to mix them up a little.

~ At least 4 other Guardsmen must attend your recruitment parade.
~ The leaflet drops should be done as normal recruitment drops. You may do these alone. Visit moongates, banks and hunting spots.
~ A full report of each recruitment run, and the parade itself, should be posted below.

Ability to fight.

A Grenadier is a killing machine. Whether armed up to the teeth or with nothing more than a spoon, a Grenadier is a killer. Lead a trophy hunt in the Baron's name and bring back your prize to adorn the Baron's office.

~ At least 4 other guardsmen must attend the hunt.
~ Collect at least 25,000 coins and evidence in your report of the slain beast.
~ Pin a full report including drawings beneath this notice.

Once all this duties have been completed seek out the Baron, Grenadier Sergeant Keres or myself to swear the Grenadier oath.

I. New Haven Recruitment Outpost:

It were a right pretty display o' Covian colours. With a long row o' tables bearin' trophies o' our recent battle with the savages-- an' some recruitment fliers s'well-- an' banners raised in the square, at the gates, and 'round the old part o' the island, s'no wonder passing drow n'Vesperians were beatin' it out o' town quick as they could.

However, we came up 'gainst plenty o' trouble with the 'braindead' factor, n' found nobody worthy o' e'en pressgangin'. Not tired o' callin' out the name o' Cove, however,  we proceeded by one o' Watchman Keres' gates t'the city o' Luna.

Banners were placed in the city centre an' all along the main road which circles it while Buttons'n I tried t'engage with the glassy-eyed locals...

With fliers havin' been handed out every which way, we took ourselves home with dry throats.


II. Recruitment Run 1:

Settin' out flags bein' a lonely business, a few folks came 'long on this run to put on a show o' force as we spread the word 'round Sosaria; they were:

Those're sketches o' flags at: Destard, Bank o' Minoc, Haven Square, Deceit, Luna Gate, Bank o' 'Glow, Haven Gate, Bank o' Britain, Jhelom's pit, Moonglow's Zoo, and, eh... 'nothah sketch o' me sittin' pretty at the Bank o' Glow. But that was a round o' ten.


III. Recruitment Run 2:

Those flags were at: Umbra's gate (that's Watchman Angalae there), gate o' Haven, Haven Square, Zento's gate, Covetous, Hythloth, Shame, Wrong, Doom, Ice, and the zoo on Moonglow, which were real popular at the time.


IV. Recruitment Run 3:

That batch landed at: Bank o' Britain, Bank o' Delucia, Bank o' Nujel'm, the Minoc Solen Hive, Bank o' Minoc, Bank o'Jhelom, Bank o' Serpent's Hold, Bank o' Glow, and the Luna provisioner's shop.

The place what they call the 'Wisp Dungeon' has for itself a fearsome reputation as a home t' all sorts o' dark wytchery, a place mighty arcanists o' old abandoned for fear o' the Guardian's legions... a reputation well-deserved.

Mind, we got ourselves somethin' of a reputation, too...

We cut our path from the gate at Honesty to the caverns' north entrance, findin' ourselves descendin' into a maze lit with the blue light o' the wisps there. Weren't so peaceful as we came to the next level, where the undead and dark wytches lay in wait for us... distractions we dealt with quickly before pressin' on downwards.

When we came at last t'the banquet hall o' the demon itself, we found 'im nay alone, but with lich-lords and golden, one-eyed giants, who all set 'pon us at once in a rage. 'Twere a terrible sight and we nearly fell-- beatin' a hasty retreat to the safety o' the halls, where we caught our breath & regrouped.

From there it was mechanical, takin' down each beast one-by-one, the golden giants first, the undead wytches, the two-headed lackeys wot came beside 'em. When we'd cleared our way, we sorted ourselves into the Arkay Formation, with myself, Watchman Cor'Vani, and Junior Buttons formin' a tough outer-wall for the others to shoot from. Senior Feather lured the demon our way, and in a heartbeat he was on us, screamin' an' hurlin' himself up against our shield-wall in a rage.

T'were only a matter o' time before he fell.
