Another fine guardsman ready to take the next step in his career eh? Good to see, lets see how he tackles his trial...

Greetings Watchman Perrin,

Seems you've been working hard, and are almost ready to receive the famed Covian cap. I say almost, because, well, you have to finish your trial first. I can tell you're itching to get down to it, so without further ado...

Watchman Trial: Perrin.

Part One

As a Junior Guardsman, you'll often be called upon to lead. Demonstrate that this is no problem for a lean, hungry guardsman such as yourself by leading a group of at least four other guardsmen to the fan dancer dojo, at the heart of Tokuno. Once there, proceed deep within, to the lowest levels, and slay one of succubi that you find there.

Conditions

At least four other guardsmen must accompany you to the dojo

A full report, complete with sketches, should be posted below this notice

Part Two

Now, it's all very well making sure some far flung dungeon is safe and free of nasty beasts, but what about Covian security?! You are to take a group of at least three other guardsmen along the great northern road, leading to altmere, and construct a security checkpoint. It should be sturdy, yet have a clear route through. Not all of the folks you'll encounter are bad you know. The design of this checkpoint is down to you.

Conditions

The checkpoint must stretch from one side of the road to the other

At least three other guardsmen must be present throughout

The checkpoint must be manned for at least 20 minutes

A full report, noting any travellers and what their business was, must be posted below this notice.

Part Three

Hard working as we Covians are, we still need a few fun and games every now and then. The final part of your task shall be to arrange a Scavenger hunt for your fellow guardsmen, around the Covian shire. This should involve them being assigned into teams. The items to be found on this scavenger hunt are yours to pick, I'd suggest something cheaply made, and of course, specifically marked, to prevent cheating.

Conditions

At least six other guardsmen must be present on this scavenger hunt

Hide the items to be recovered throughout the shire a short while before the event takes place.

A full report should be posted under this notice.

With these tasks complete, you shall indeed be ready to wear the cap of Cove!

Good luck Watchman, the eyes of Cove are upon you.

*Signed*

Sentry at Altmere

Leading: Perrin
Attending: John Dell
                Hoagie
                Erik Arkay
                Jakob
                Demarian Tel'var

After rounding up some guardsmen, we set out for Altmere. Knowing this would be a large fortification, I took the time to supply the outpost with needed materials. Upon arrival we found our supplies all accounted for and in good condition. While Jakob seached the immediate area for any threats, we began setting up.

After finishing construction we took up our places to watch the road. All people passing along the Baron's road were to pay a small toll in gold crowns and surrender their equipment and/or cargo for inspection.

The road was quiet all evening except for a single traveler on horseback. When told to halt he panicked and spurred his horse into the underbrush of the nearby treeline. We attempted to catch up with him but he managed to reach the road on the other side. He shot off down the road like a bolt from a crossbow, whipping and kicking his horse the entire way. We concluded he was some sort of bandit or horse thief. At the very least he is guilty of tax evasion seeing as how he didnt pay the toll.

The sentry lasted into the night, so we broke out the torches and lanterns. All remained quiet and calm in the dark hours.

In the morning hours we began tearing down the walls. All seemed quiet still, no ettins, no giant spiders, no Yewish. Perhpas slightly uncharacteristic of the Altmere area...

We returned home with no dead or injured, a successful trip in my opinion!

Succubi Hunt - Bone taken as trophy!

Leading: Perrin
Attending: Hoagie
                Kas Valentine
                Gabriel Drachen
                Ronas Xerad
                Kerri

Late in the evening, I gathered together a few brave guardmen to head to Tokuno and down into the depths of the Fan Dancer Dojo. After assembling at the barracks, Kas opened a gate for us to a location near the dojo. We almost immediatly came under attack by the locals, and had killed several by the time we reached the first set of stairs.

Decending deeper, we came across many of the dangerous fan-hags that inhabit the dojo. We made slow but steady progress through the seemingly endless supply of wenches. When we reached a large room we were confronted by a throng of demons! They attacked us again and again, sometimes in pairs, yet we made it through to the second flight of stairs. After fighting our way through even more fan-hags we came to a quiet room, and rested for a moment. Kerri went ahead to scout the next area, and returned with news that the Succubi were just a short distance ahead.

Upon reaching the next room we came under attack by some armed men. The ensuing struggle caught the attention of a demon-wytch, and she quickly headed towards us. A violent bloody fight followed, and we found ourselves fighting a second demon-wytch! Covian guardsmen are not to be taken lightly however, and both wytches were brought down.

On our return to the surface, several of us became seperated. We made a dash for the stairs, Hoagie bravely leading the way and enabling Kas and myself time to escape. When we returned to the barracks we found the others waiting, and everyone was accounted for.

Another victory for Cove!

Guardsmen Scavenger Hunt!

Leading:
Perrin

Attending:
Sam
Decker
Brandy Arrowsnap
Dino
Jack Sinist
Lana

After hiding some items, the scavenger hunt was ready to begin! The guardsmen were formed into three teams and each was given a list of items scattered around the area. The teams had fifteen minutes to find as many items as possible and then return with them to the barracks. Each item was worth one point and whichever team had the most points at the end would be declared the winner!

After fifteen minutes, the first team to return was Sam and Decker. They were followed by Jack and lana, and lastly Brandy and Dino. Each team had gathered a pack full of items and the counting and point tallying commenced. However it soon became apparent that several guardsmen had differing views of what was considered "fruit"...

It was a very close count, Jack and Lana coming in third by a slight half a point, Brandy and Dino taking second with six points, and Sam and Decker winning with a total of seven points! Sam and Decker each collected their winnings in the form of checks made out for fine Covian gold and celebrated their victory!

*scribbled in small print on the very bottom of the report...*

P.S.
If you value your rank or health, let Jack win.

It was OK. But nothing more. I didn't win after all.

Your cap is waiting on Sunday.

[Correction]
It would seem you still have to collect the mere amount of 10,000 gold coins before being promoted.
