Regular Trials: Leanne Martin

Another Regular hoping to become a part of the old timers, I see, Martin. Your name landed on my desk the day I began my pilgrimage. Looks like you’re due to fill the rank of Senior Scout. Before we proceed, I hereby trial you with five tasks – One for each rank you will have held.

Task One: Squad of Scouts

Time to get some eggs in your basket, Scout. Show the men what your squad is for! I want you to lead a series of three patrols that truly encompass what it truly means to be a scout. The patrols can be led to any location of your choosing.

Requirements:

*Your patrols must be open to and cater to all guardsmen, and at least two guardsmen must accompany you on each patrol.
*You must plan ahead of your patrols regarding what you will teach the guardsmen. Perhaps focus on skirmishing? Disguises? Spying? These are just some examples of what might be appropriate.
*You must incorporate true and traditional Scout concepts into your patrols and impart your knowledge as and where appropriate.

Task Two: Service to the Citizentry

I've noticed our citizens require help with their ongoing work around the Household. The likes of Carolin, Khaelieth and Miss Masteen would most likely appreciate some devotion of our time.

Requirements:

*You are to pick one another guardsman to assist you with this task. The guardsman that does help will be awarded with one guardsman duty.
*You are to devote two hours of your time (this can be split into seperate intervals) to two citizens of your choice. So one hour each.
*Assist these citizens with whatever they may need. These tasks may include but are not limited to: Cleaning and maintenance, tavern work, resource gathering, shilling tasks.

Task Three: Survival & Skirmish

In order to demonstrate your leadership skills, you are to co-ordinate with Yewish or Vesperian forces and plan some battle training. The training must take place in the woods either in Yew, Vesper or in Cove.

Requirements:

*Participants must set up ‘bases’ for each team for your battle games. These bases must be as creative as possible.
*Three games must take place during this event.

Task Four: Minotaur Mutilation

Another trophy for your collection, Regular. A Tier 7 trophy hunt to retrieve a Horn of a Minotaur. The trophy will complete your Tier 7 set and awards you 400 trophy points.. You are to lead a unit  into the Labyrinth and end the misery of a tormented Minotaur, then take its horn as proof.

Requirements:

*You should advertise your trip to others outside the Baronship Household to gather a diverse and multi-skilled group to slay this beast.
*At least twenty thousand gold pieces should be collected on your mission.
*A painting must be provided of the horn being removed.

Task Five: Absolute Avamass

Avamass is upon us, Regular. Time for some festivities. You are to organise and run an entirely Covian extravaganza in the form of a traditional Avamass play.

Requirements:

*You must provide food and drink at your theatrical event – Perhaps organise something with the barstaff at the Cardinal Feather or make a request to Miss Masteen or Miss Darkheart?
*The play must be casted and written by none other than Leanne Martin. You may seek help and guidance, of course. My suggestion would be Serj Eason.
*These plays have been held in the past. Perhaps you could consult myself, Captain Morana or Commander Grayner (upon his return) regarding what your story could be.
*You must formally invite all our friendly parties in the form of an appealing poster to attract their attention.

A full report for each task and any research and planning included must be posted below. This is no mean feat, Regular. I wish you the very best of luck.

*Signed*

Wha' is it I hear? Tha' bloody thief, err, I mean fine bearded guardsman has become a Watchman? Well, best give him somethin' to do before he gets bored and eventually starts stealin' shyte again, I mean... Wha'ever!

Alton! You have yet to proof yourself worthy! While these are not your trials to earn the Covian cap, they are tasks suited for you as my apprentice.

Task One ~ Bring in new recruits!

There are elves vanishing left and right and it is only a matter of time until whoever takes them away will come for our poor recruits. You're to bring new ones in, just in case.

  • Hold a recruitment stall in Haven with at least two other guardsmen
  • Place at least ten banners around New and Old Haven
  • The banners will count towards your current requirements
  • Provide a report with scetches below

Task Two ~ Show some Courage!

You are my apprentice and therefor you will leave off your old habits of stealing things from others, instead you will conduct yourself honorably and display your courage!

  • Go to the Dungeon of Blood in Ilshenar with at least three other guardsmen
  • Collect at least 10.000 gold coins for the Scouts
  • The collected gold will count towards your current requirements
  • Provide a report with scetches below

Task Thee ~ Who are you again?

They say you want to become a Scout. Well, we'll see about that once you got the cap, but for now, you can show if you even got remotely the talent for it. Being a member of the Light Company is more than just to be sneaky!

  • Go to Swaggers Night in a disguise of your choice
  • Spend the evening there without revealing your identity and collect any valuable information
  • The task will count as a Guardsman Duty
  • Provide a report with scetches below

Every provided report will count to your requirements and completing all three tasks will award you with a Guardsman Duty. Best of luck, Watchman!

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

Spookiness at the Town Hall
During a patrol of the Baronship Household, strange goings-on were heard in the Town Hall. Footsteps were heard upstairs and, apart from the guardsmen present, the building was completely empty. Searches proved fruitless. Investigators of the Spirit World are being asked to step forward!

Drunk and Vulnerable
Guardsmen came across a lone Covian woman completely intoxicated at The Cardinal Feather. Apparently, the woman had been drinking with someone else but, after sobering up, could not understand how she got as drunk as she did - nor who she was drinking with. Concerns over spiked drinks were raised. Covian guardsmen are asking anyone with any information over suspicious activity at The Cardinal Feather to report to the Barracks.

Odd Hay Bales..?
Junior Guardsman Sheriam Palmer questioned the origin of the hay bales in Cove by the Armourers. Why are they there? Who stacked them? Is there a meaning behind their placement?

Crooked Bankers
Citizen Carolin Kazami has made allegations of unethical practices against the Covian Bank. Interest rates on loans are higher than ever, forcing Citizens to be stuck in an endless cycle of debt. The Baronship Household, charged with monitoring the Covian Bank, gave this response; “Perhaps the citizens aren’t working hard enough?” Ooo!

HEADLINE: WHERE IS HOAGIE?
Guardsmen received information whilst on patrol in Altmere that Commander Hoagie Grayner had been taken away by the Guardsmen Militia under duress. This information was treated lightly and it was assumed that Hoagie had simply ‘eaten a bad pie’ and was probably off on sick leave. But some time has passed now and his whereabouts is still unknown. Concerning..?

HEADLINE: KHAELIETH ARRESTED BY YEW!
The up and coming chocolatier of Cove was arrested by Yew Churchmen on Wednesday eve for ‘suspected necromancy’. Covian guardsmen present were unable to deter the well armed force from Yew and, with Khaelieth’s advice, it was agreed to let the tradesman be taken away for questioning.

Rumour
* Carolin Kazami to join Covian Army? Citizen Coarlin Kazami has been highly active with the Covian guardsmen as of late. Assisting with several patrols, she is gifted with a bow and appears to be as light-footed as a Scout!

* Disagreement between Palmer and Eason..! Watchman Serj Eason did not hide his hatred of Elves when Citizen Khaelieth was being taken away by the Yew Church. This did not sit well with Junior Guardsman Sheriam Palmer. After the Yew forces had departed, Junior Palmer immediately dismissed Watchman Eason from duty.

* Yew against the North. The authorities in Yew have made a bold move entering Covian territory and making an arrest. Surely this will unsettle the delicate politics of the North!?

Patrol of Covetowne - 8pm, Wednesday 14th November 2018

Seventh and final patrol complete!

In Attendance
Serj Eason, Watchman (Squad Leader)
Ilyana Drachen, Senior Arcanist
Sheriam Palmer, Junior Guardsman
Tyrael Styx, Junior Grenadier
Axiana Masteen, Patrician
Carolin Kazami, Commoner

Patrol Notes
* Turned up late to patrol dressed in my 'bard uniform'; had come from a gig in Minoc.
* We navigated Covetowne with the mantra, "Hearts and Minds". We engaged the citizenry with high spirits to boost local morale.
* Local citizenry had various errands that needed helping with. Some of them we saw to (Senior Drachen escorted a noble to Moonglow), others we couldn't assist too greatly (a bride that was left at the altar, terrible..!).
* Carolin had concerns over the Covian Bank and it's loan interest rates.
* Junior Palmer and I were perplexed by oddly stacked haybales.
* We finished the patrol atop the Covian Wall. Whilst it has been beaten up over the years, we stood watch.

All was well.
