16  Element boards / Citizen Task Board / Re: [Ongoing Task] Supplying The Army on: September 02, 2018, 01:52:10 pm
Supplying our allies

I have supplied Captain Wilkes and Waywatcher Harper with new armour and weapons, all polished.
I have also supplied one of our Grenadiers with new gear. Also polished.

I also ran into an old Librarian from Deepwater. I am going to attempt to help him build his tome collection.

Leading Guardsman:
Kelly Sanderson, Sergeant

Attending Guardsmen:
Raven, Regular Grenadier
Leanne Melior, Regular Scout
Abigail Keres, Junior Arcanist
Sheriam Palmer, Junior Guardsman
Aralin Eroecia, Watchman
Estelwen, Guardsman Recruit

The guardsmen gathered at the barracks at the sound of the bell on Thursday - I had some activities lined up. The activities were as follows:

~Marathon: Obtain a bale of cotton, a scribe's pen, a dice and cup and a bunch of grapes. All of these items had to be collected from their respective shop keepers without the use of any teleportation tricks.

~Squats: The individual squats onto a bench for maximum butt-crunching exercise.

~Push-ups: The individual gets their face to the floor. All Covian guardsmen know the drill.

~Apple-bobbing: Dunking their head into a bucket of water full of apples. Eat as much of an apple as you can, face submerged.

~Water-wrestling: Self explanatory.

Part of the exercise was to partake in some role-reversal. The Junior, Watchman and Recruit had an entire fifteen minutes to boss two Regulars and myself around whilst we completed the circuit training. The Recruit did an exceptional job.

When we were about to move to the water-wrestling, we were intruded by two civilians in red cloaks. We proceeded to wrestle with them instead.

After the cafuffle was over, we all had a well-earned soak in the water.

19  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Recruit Training Session and Evening Duties on: August 24, 2018, 10:09:11 pm
Led by:
Kelly Sanderson, Sergeant

Attending:
Joaquin Quincil, Guardsman Recruit
Kyle Wulfe, Guardsman Recruit

A quiet night in and around Cove tonight. So us on the night shift decided to make ourselves useful. It had been me and Recruit Quincil for most of the night. The Captain had joined us briefly for a bout of wrestling with the Recruit. In the middle of this, Recruit Wulfe appeared for duty. I decided to conduct a little recruit's training session, with the ongoing battle happening. Our recruits need to know their basic commands and understand them. Nothing worse than a load of recruits resembling headless chickens running around the battlefield.

We covered the following:
*Addressing a superior
*Sounding off
*Numbering off
*Tracker's Line
*Arming up
*Readying arms
*Holding arms
*At ease
*Equipment check - Light sources, bedrolls, rations etc
*Vesperian borders - Where guardsmen should/should not roam alone

After this was all covered and the guardsmen looks sufficiently bored to death, myself and Recruit Quincil headed to the graveyard for a clear out to wind down our evening's duties (See Recruit Quincil's report for the stabbing on the Troggs). My backside still hurts a fair amount, but I managed to tackle the night shift with a bit of determination.

One guardsman duty awarded to Recruit Quincil for his constant three hour participation in various duties including a hunt, resource gathering, a training session, a wrestling match and a patrol. Good work. I hope you learnt a lot this evening.

However, it must be notes that Recruit Quincil persists in referring to me as 'Luv' and has received many laps this evening for this offence.

23  Element boards / Citizen Board / The Town Hall: Re-Opened on: August 19, 2018, 02:26:57 pm
I would like to announce that Cove Town Hall has now been re-opened to the public. There is a communal craft room located on the second floor for people to use.

The Baron's Court Hall has also been relocated and refurbished to the ground floor. Please do not tread dirty boots through the hall, as the carpet has been newly fitted.

The top floor is home to offices for Commander Grayner, Captain Morana and Sergeant Sanderson.

There is still work to be done and final touches to be made, but I now declare this building available for use.
Thank you for your patience and co-operation.

27  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Watchman's Trials: Rook on: August 15, 2018, 09:46:17 pm
Watchman Trials: Rook

Yet another one who thinks they’re worthy of the Covian Cap. I’ll have to start making these trials harder…

Task One: Mastering Medicine

As a guardsman, it is important to look after yourself and your health. I want you to research common medical problems and injuries that people in our line of work face and hold a training session surrounding what you have learnt.

Requirements:

*At least three guardsmen must attend your training session.
*All research and prior work must be included in your report – Consider consulting guardsmen that are knowledgeable in this field, such as Cadet Kobra.
*Consider what topics you would like to focus on in your training session. Examples: Taking care of boots and feet, hygiene, illness and diseases.

Task Two: Dealing with Deadites

Due to the recent attacks from Undead, I want you to gather a group of guardsmen and lead them on a ‘naked’ run through Deceit. No armour allowed! Show them a lesson!

Requirements:

*At least three other guardsmen must assist you on your mission
*At least twenty thousand coins must be retrieved and donated to the Church. You must give the funds to them personally and advise them of your efforts to purge the spawn of the guardian.

[OOC: I would encourage the use of the ‘Dark Nights’ feature for this event for those who participate]

Patrolling Paradise

As our efforts spread to other parts including Nujel’m and with the ongoing war efforts, we need to be comfortable fighting in different environments. I want you to lead a series of patrols to the following places:

~An orc Fort
~A jungle
~A desert
~A swamp
~Somewhere extremely cold

Requirements:

*Two other guardsmen must attend each patrol
*A minimum of ten thousand coins must be collected on each patrol.
*Evidence of your studies and learning from each area must be demonstrated below.

Reports should be written for all the tasks within this trial, including sketches and description of processes and events.

28  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Regular Trials: Sergio Jarrett on: August 15, 2018, 01:05:21 am
Regular Trials: Sergio Jarrett

Well hello, Regular Jarrett. Fancy your name being placed on my desk. Looks like you’re due to become a Senior Scout, upon completion of some trials. I hereby trial you with five tasks – One for each rank you will have progressed to.

Task One: Caring for Comrades

Place an advertisement for your fellow comrades and civilians on the board, offering your help with their day to day needs.

Requirements:

*You must assist at least five individuals.
*You may assist with any needs such as gathering resources, helping them run an errand or helping them train their weaponry skills.
*Please use common sense as to what is not an appropriate task to assist them with.

Task Two: Ducks in a Row

Our Recruits are slacking again, Regular. And to be honest, so are some of our higher ranks. I want you to hold a discipline training for the men.

Requirements:

*Your training session must be attended by at least four other guardsmen.
*You must demonstrate your leadership skills clearly and impart as much knowledge as possible to the attending guardsmen.

Task Three: Survival & Skirmish

In order to demonstrate your leadership skills, you are to co-ordinate with Yewish forces and plan some battle training. The training must take place in the woods either in Yew or in Cove.

Requirements:

*Participants must set up ‘bases’ for each team for your battle games. These bases must be as creative as possible.
*Three games must take place during this event.

Task Four: Mashing the Minions

A Tier 5 trophy hunt to retrieve a Mechanical Arm of a Golden Exodus Minion (Exodus Minion Paragon). The tier of the trophy matches that of how many ranks you are surpassing. You are to lead a unit to the Demonic temple in Illshenar, gain access to the temple and slay the golden mech, remove its arm and return alive. The Trophy Reward for this hunt is: 300 Points.

Requirements:

*At least three guardsmen must assist you on your hunt.
*At least twenty thousand gold pieces should be collected on your mission.
*A painting must be provided of the severed arm.

Task Five: Reminiscing in the Ranks

As your final task, I want you to hold a story evening. As a Senior Guardsman, you will be filling your own life story yourself. It’s time to hear some from your superiors. Create an atmosphere for veterans of both Cove and Yew to regale everyone with their tales of woe and hardship for a night.

Requirements:

*You must provide food and drink at your storytelling evening – Perhaps organise something with the barstaff at the Goblin or the Cardinal Feather?
*You must formally invite ranks of Senior Guardsman or above to tell their stories, and encourage citizens and lower ranks to listen.

A full report for each task and any research and planning included must be posted below. These are not easy tasks, Jarrett. I wish you all the best.

Avalynn Vale, Junior Grenadier

Attending:
Kelly Sanderson, Sergeant
Elizabeth Martin, Arcanist Corporal
Saerandir, Junior Guardmsan
Sheriam Palmer, Junior Guardsman

It was a very late hour - Almost time for me to go off duty. A group of four guardsmen were at the Barracks. I greeted them all and asked if we should put up a sentry. Junior Vale volunteered to lead one. We built a grand sentry - Three tiers high. Father Hugo advised he needed extra fortifications for a prisoner being held in the cells. Fortify we did.

An old friend, Ms Eman, turned up half way through our efforts. She advised she was mining and wanted to provide the Cardinal Feather Inn with goblets.

A few of the men went to bed and it was just myself, Vale and Martin who remained. We talked quietly for a while whilst looking out for any threats. All was peaceful.

Sunday night, the Vesperians came back for another go. And we repelled them, again.

We had just returned from the meeting in Trinsic where the Vesperians officially declared an act of war. We had been to the Swaggers Inn and shown them our force, then returned to Cove promptly.

I had been allocated the job of setting up two sentry duties - One at the Barracks and one at Cove Gates. The purpose of these was quite clear - We needed to repel the Vesperian forces further. We completed the first sentry at the Barracks, all on guard for an attack.

I took a group of three to assist me in constructing the second sentry at Cove Gates. However, whilst they went to obtain hides and wood, a portal opened up. Who appeared?

Escaflowne and his gang of cronies. They grabbed me and took my weapon. One seemed bloodthirsty and was insistent that they knock me out. However, Escaflowne rejected their request and guided me back to the Barracks. Upon our arrival, he held a blade to my throat - I laugh at this now, as I was wearing plate armour from head to toe. I did not seem to realise this at the time, nor did anyone else. He pushed me forwards and then the attack began.

I, weaponless, stood there for a moment in bewilderment. I darted into the Barracks and grabbed my second choice - A sword and shield. We again rid Cove of Vesperians, and all was at peace again. For a few hours.

If I've missed any names off this list, please sign your name below.
One battle duty awarded to all men who took part.
Good work, men.
