2  Guardsman Boards / Recruit Duties / Re: Recruit Duty ~ Escort Duty on: July 12, 2011, 03:11:09 pm
After looking at the duties board I noticed this one had not been completed for some time.  I wondered has the roads become safer now that our citizens no longer need escorts?  After speaking to some of the people in Cove I found this was not so and they still feared to walk further than the town gates.

So I set about finding my first escort and came across a young noble man wishing to travel to Moonglow.  Simple enough it may be thought to step through the moongate and just walk the short distance but no sooner were we through than a swarm of Mongbats decended on us.  With several well placed arrows I soon brought them down but still more attacked as we made our way towards the town.   The man thanked me on our arrival and paid me some coins saying he would never of made it through those mongbats.

My next escort was a healer wishing to travel to Minoc but the forest is plagued by all manner of beasts and with no knowledge in handling weapons the man feared to make any attempts to walk there.  I calmed his fears and said I would be happy to escort him, which he agreed to so long as we stuck mainly to the road.  Even so our journey brought us past a gruesome sight of an abandoned campsite with dead animal carcases left out for the flies.  We hurried along the road to Minoc and our journey was otherwise uneventful.  The healer thanked me for he escort and gave me some bandages for my trouble.

My next escort was a young girl wishing to visit her auntie in New Magencia, I have never been to this place nor heard about it since its horrible downfall.  The journey was simple enough but the terrain was trecherous with little hillocks and uneven ground that threatened to trip the girl up with every step she took.  For much of the journey I had to hold her hand to stop her falling over.   We arrived safetly and she thanked me for the escort but had no coinage to pay me with so I told her not to worry as I was only doing my duty.

3  Guardsman Boards / Recruit Duties / Re: Recruit Duty ~ So, What's Yer Name..? on: July 11, 2011, 07:59:54 pm
Name: Nethaellas Idhrenniel
Age: around 200
Hair: Golden Blonde
Eyes: Bright Blue
Height: 5'4
Race: Greenelf/Woodelf (Laiquendi)

Appearance: Like most female elves Nethaellas is slim and graceful with soft curves though she is slightly shorter than most.  She wears her hair in a braid intwined with peices of green thread, attached to which tiny hang green enameled leaves.  Her ears are not much larger than humans and pointed at the tips.  She smiles often and usually appears cheerful.

Background

Nethaellas was born and raised in the old forest (Tawariaur) in Ilshenar near the shrine the humans named Spirituality.  From a young age it was known she would join the Guardians so she was taught how to use a bow and how to fight.  Throughout her training she was shown different forms of protecting the forest until she came of age and took up the golden helmet of the Guardians.  She lived a happy life in her home amongst her family and friends until the shrines opened their gates and the explorers came pouring in.  For a long time things became tense as the adventurers invaded every part of their home, the elves were forced to keep hidden until they understood who these invaders were and what threats they might pose.  In time the visits became less and less and the village was able return to a normal relatively normal life.  At this moment the elves decided to go through these gates and see where these people came from.  Nethaellas was later one of those chosen to go out and find more about the people in particular town and live with them as one of them.
4  In Character Boards / In Character Board / My first turn at leading. on: July 09, 2011, 07:14:43 pm
Its is my second day today in the Army and already I am making new friends and meeting new people.  There were a few of us gathered outside the barracks mostly recruits until some higher ranks came on duty.  I thought perhaps it would be a good time to see how these guardsmen patrol with each other so asked if I could lead something.  It was suggested that we go to Covetous and Sergio agreed this would be a good place for a first lead.

It was obvious that most of the guardsmen knew this dungeon well as they had no problem navigating the twists and turns of it's tunnels and seemed willing enough to head off on their own at times.  Before too long I felt I need to give some commands to keep order but I am not sure some were able to hear my voice very well.

Getting them to follow my orders became more important as we reached the lower levels of the caves, I think eventually they trusted to my words and we had fewer falling over themselves.  We worked our way past the chambers with the liches and headed to the lowest room that contained the foul walking corpses that spew poison, these were my targets.  After killing a few it was time to head back out of the dungeon and make our way home.
