Just a normal day at the Cove Army Barracks, until Nicholi Ravnthorn decided to actually do something in his requirements. The shock, the horror, the WORK. It's a rare sight indeed, but hopefully a many more to come. We quickly gathered wood and leather and constructed our sentry.

It was a rather uneventful sentry, until an annoying dwarf showed up, and somehow got inside the sentry. I'm assuming he was hiding away in the barrel, but we're not entirely sure. He was quickly dispatched and tossed into the bay.

Cove is safe for anothe day!

Watchman Vale rallied the troops tonight at about eight o'clock, with a mighty plan to strike down the growing titan populations in the deep of Ilshenar. After a longish debate of where they actually reside, we decided that they "might" be close to the Honesty Moongate. It was decided that we would fumble around in the most Covian fasion and bash things to death until we found where we wanted to be.

After finding the Titans, it did not take our overwhelming force long to strike down every living one there! We quickly made our way into the deepest part of thier stronghold, to take down the Lich Lords aswell as the Mighty Barlons!

We brought back a decent amount of gold, which most of us donated to the coffers, about three thousand coins each. Another grand victory for Cove! Huzzah!

As far as I remember this was brought up several years ago. Agreed, it would add to tactical options, being able to coordinate on the battle field. It was ultimately shot down because it was thought that it would damage the RP in game while everyone was busy chit chatting on Vent, they wouldn't be paying attention to IG signals, and the RP side of the battle.

I still agree with that thought, and wouldn't like to see it.

9  In Character Boards / In Character Board / [Essay] Uniformity - A Must For All Guardsmen. on: October 01, 2010, 04:17:00 am
*An Essay pinned on the Barracks' notice board*

Uniformity:

The wearing of a Uniform is a must for all Guardsmen of Cove. The Uniform should be seen as a privledge to wear, there are many people in this world, but few Covian Guardsmen. It is a privledge to wear the same dress as the legendary Guardsmen, past and present that have served and died in this uniform. In the years past, many men, such as: Gregor Eason, Erik Arkay, Ryan Greystone, Hrothgar, and Delculakador, fought hard to carve their place into the world, for the right to wear their own Uniform and be their own people. It is, and should be, an Honour for all Guardsmen to wear this uniform and be counted among these heros.

There are several factors in reasoning for a Uniform that I will discuss upcoming. Including: Equality, Respect, and Funtions on the Battlefield.

I. Equality:

Frist, let me talk about the word itself "Uniform", Uniform is actually the combo-nation of two words, "Uni" meaning One, and "Form" meaning Way. Seeing this, it is to be understood that there is only One Way to wear a Uniform.

When the uniform is worn by all, the way it was designed, there is a great amount of equality created. Everyone of the same rank becomes the same. A Junior Guardsman that has served the Army for twenty years does not requie more respect then a Junior Guardsman only serving the Army for two years. I hold great respect for anyone who makes it to the rank of Regular Guardsman, for I know much much time, work, sweat and blood it takes to reach that rank. As it should be for every rank in the Army, Recruit to Commander.

II. Respect

As I mentioned before, there have been several great Covian heros to serve, bleed and die in this uniform. To change the uniform for your personal comfort, or worse yet "style" is a stab in the back to those who fought years upon years to wear this uniform. If you can not respect the Uniform in itself and what it stands for, you must atleast respect the souls of those who died for it and in it.

III. On the Battlefield

If for nothing else, consider yourself and your lives. Wearing an improper uniform on a field of battle is very dangerous. It could possibly makr you as an enemy for us or our allies, and get you attacked by your ownside in mid-battle. But, more likely it is that the opposition will seek out those who are extravagantly dressed. For those who do no wear a proper Covian Uniform will find that a bullseye has been quite literally paint upon your forehead.

As a warrior, I do not seek out the ordinary dressed people blending into the crowd as a prime target. My target will always be the ones to stand out, a will most people's targets. If not in Uniform, you paint yourself as a target.

IV. Conclusion:

In conclusion, the not wearing, or changing of a Uniform not only dishonours you, but also dishonours those who wore the same Uniform before you. I do not take lightly the dishonour of Cove, it's Army, it's Baron, or it's fallen heros. Uniformity not only shows respect to all these things, but also keeps you more safe in battle. Uniformity is a must for all Guardsmen of Cove, and must be taken seriously.

My dad used to say "Don't try and fix something that isn't broken." Why change what works? The Current Barracks has been the Barracks sence 2004. Yes, it's seen several changes and reformats over the years, but it's always been the Barracks. Why change now?

Sorry to those of you that may have showed up to the armsmaster tournament I had set up for last saturday. I had to travel up to pensylvania to visit my grandmother in the hospital. She wasn't doing well, and the family was worried for the worst. Good news though, she's back on her feet and in good(ish) health and should be released later this week.

Hope to see you all IG soon.

Leading:
Torrak Keres - Commander

Attending:
Bersi - Arcanist Corporal
Kas Valentine - Senior Arcanist
Nicholi Ravnthorn - Regular Guardsman
Keitaro Kazami - Junior Grenadier
Ilyana - Junior Guardsman

Commander Keres led a short combat training in Covetown, where we observed Arcanist survivability, chasing a single arcanist around Cove trying to knock them. It took a little while to snag these slippery guys into a corner and coordinate strike, but we quickly got into a groove and bashed them down. We then moved on to pair fights, three pairs of two. I was paired up wth Kas, As we struck, we had a little misunderstanding on targets, I struck at Ilyana first and he, Torrak. I saw the differences and quickly changed target to Torrak. Soon after I was targettting by the third team, dropped in seconds. This highlights the need for clean and perfect understanding in targetting.

We then moved onto three on three battles, the outcome of these battle was a little sparatic, it all depended on our irst target. f we targetted a mage first it seemed they were able to recover and even be able to drop the rest of us in time. But when we targetted Keitaro first, we were able to drop him and put the mages back against the wall on pure defense, only a matter of time to dropping them. Again, perfection in targetting and timing wins the battle.
