The Light Company received word that one of the new recruits, sister to Watchman Elliot Tyrell and potential Arcanist Hope Tyrell had been kidnapped and held hostage by an unknown person.
The missing person, Recruit Hope Tyrell
The weather was gloomy; a fitting narrative to the mission in question. An investigative task force of seven able-bodied Covians assembled at the barracks to follow Regular Scout Leanne Melior’s orders: our only clue known to us lay in the ruins by the Vesper border.
The investigative task force
Amongst the ruins we found tracks that indicated the ruins had been occupied not too long ago. Atop a stool we found a message from the culprit: a riddle. The contents of the riddle pointed us to the Desert of Compassion. An ironic name considering the blistering heat and overgrown scorpions.
We trudged through the desert, the blazing star looming above us, beating down on our armoured shoulders; sweat falling from our brows. Yet we marched on, facing the barren wasteland ahead of us. Our only relief from the elements lay in a cave on the Western border of the desert which met the mountains. Yet it was not the solitude we had hoped, for inside lay the scattered remains of a human corpse covered in the Covian kilt. The scene before us shook even the most battle hardened of us; a hellish waste of life, defiled as if a mere part in a game. Amongst the remains we found our next clue which we deduced to be near Wrong.
Deep within a cave we found the remains of another poor soul. It appears that we have a serial killer on our hands; one that enjoys riddles and games, for the two corpses were not those of the Recruit from our evaluations. However the identities of these two are still as of yet unknown to us. Could they be Covians? It should be noted that an investigation of any missing persons in Cove be undertaken.
Regardless, our riddler pointed us once more to a tomb buried deep within the dungeon of Ice. Through strict tactics and martial prowess, the task force fought its way through the darkness with nothing but torchlight to illuminate our way. Within the dungeon we discovered a complex inhabited by ice fiends.
Hidden behind an off-coloured wall, expertly demolished by our Grenadior did we find the Recruit: alive, but not well.
Making our way back to friendly territory, Scout Melior and Watchman Tyrell set to caring for the Recruit. Her physical health appears stable, but for her mental state I cannot speak.
While we may consider our mission a success, I believe this to be but the start in a long string of unfortunate circumstances.
