Only firing spells at an enemy gives an arcanist satisfaction. You shall lead a troop to Covetous, and set them on fire!In attendance:
Leanne Melior, Junior Guardsman
Torrak Keres, Commander
Aleri Briggs, Junior Guardsman
Fritz Segur, Watchman
Syvirosy Jaquen, Guardsman Recruit
Gosakai, Guardsman Recruit
Tyrel, Guardsman Recruit
My second recruit task posted on the notice board, a hunt to Covetous! And not a bad turnout at all.
After discussing the tasks at hand (to kill an
Older Elder Gazer and a bunch o' Liches) we headed out.
We arrived inside Covetous, and dodged a few flaming fireballs just inside the entrance whilst discussing battle tactics.
We continued on deeper into the dungeon, yet it seemed too easy with all the skilled Guardsman at hand, and so Aleri Briggs made a novel suggestion. Lets hunt our way through this dungeon...
...NAKED?!
Well, i wasn't sure i wanted to see that much of some of the others, so it was armour off only, kilts still on thankfully! Well, except Briggs who went all the way to loincloth.
We made short work of their Gazers and their Elder.
Fought our way through a horde of
Skeletwirps Skeletons, and took a crack at the Lich's! As it happens, they were a bit much to handle armourless, which i found out the hard way.
So armour back on! (except for Junior Briggs) we smashed the Lich's back into grave dust.
Deeper in the dungeon we discovered a large library, which made for a great opportunity to stock up our own library at the Barracks! Oddly enough, there was also a portrait that looked oddly like the Commander.
In the deepest places, after disposing of a Rotting Corpse, we found a gruesome torture chamber, with an odd guillotine that chopped down and back up on its ow accord! Syvirosy made a suggestion... I dont think anyone gave it a go though.
Now to the good part! Oddly enough, the fight back out of the dungeon was more eventful than the one into it! We started off with Junior Melior's shoe laces coming undone...
Back to where the Gazers were, there were strange swirling beings of light that didnt seem to friendly!
And then back up top, as we could see the light of the dungeon entrance, we were blocked by a small group of Orcs demanding tribute!!! Junior Briggs (still naked) bravely volunteered to try to reason with them after claiming to be able to speak a bit of Orcish.
Er, needless to say, Briggs' reasoning skills didn't quite work and the Orcs got themselves into a frenzy! The jumped at our front line with madness in their eyes flailing their axes left and right, but the training and discipline of the Guardsman kicked in (looks like all those drills and boot camps pay off eh?) and we repelled the attack and then made an advance of our own. At the end of the battle the Orcs were defeated, and not one guardsman fell to their murderous attack.
Assembling outside, i then decided to keep the troops fitness levels up with a short race back to barracks in full armour (yes that meant Briggs too).
Junior Briggs decided to dash off before i even said go, and a mad dash to the Barracks ensued! Oddly enough, the same Junior Briggs was the last to return.
We stacked up the loot which amounted to 17,831 gold pieces, and a wheel of cheese, not quite sure where that came from, and all of the guardsman chose to donate their share of 2,800 gold pieces to the Army.
I then thanked the guardsman for their attendance, and dismissed them.
