Having just finished posting up a few reports I sat down in the barracks and had a brief chat with Kat. This didn't last long however, and soon ma'am Melior was ordering us to the roof for a drill on Tactical Orders and a check of equipment.

To begin with she explained to us the order that the squads lined up in, scouts, arcanists, core members and then grenadiers.

Once this was understood we moved on to cover aspects of the Army's tactical orders. It began simple enough, with orders such as "company turn left" and "company about face" before moving onto "number off and sound off."

The equipment check followed, and while I had supplies of bandages and axes, I lacked a bedroll and a torch, both of which had been returned to Yew upon my retirement and none issued upon arrival in Cove. I'll sort some out later tonight.

Name: Tommy Nottinbury

Appearance: A tall and good looking man, Tommy normally wears his naturally black hair in a ponytail. While his face has remained relatively free from scarring his back bares witness to a number of old scars from a cat o' nine tails whip.

Three scars are also evident on his upper right hand chest, one just below his left shoulder and another in his stomach. The later two appear more recent than the three older, more faded scars, though they all appear to have healed well enough.

History: Born in Skara Tommy comes from a wealthy mercantile family. His young life was normal enough, he was educated at a boarding school in Britain but often spent more time hanging around the local barracks than attending to his studies. At the age of 15, determined not to follow the path his father had planned out for him - to join the family firm -,  he left home  during the summer holidays, intending to join the royal army. Beset by an unseasonal summer storm however he was soon lost in the vast woods that covered much of the way from Skara to Britain and he ended up in Yew. There he was talked into laying down his dreams of joining the Royal Army by a waywatcher by the name of Nadia and instead enlisted in Yew.  He spent the next 15 years of his life in Yew, holding almost every possible rank within the militia. Three times he wore the cap of a Sergeant, twice he was Master of the Besieger division and for a time he was even a personal guard to Lord Klion D'Gar, though he spent more time guarding the D'Gar's children than he did with D'Gar himself.

Now half owns the family merchant firm and a number of farms in Skara and New Magincia, though his Sister has day to day operational control of the firm.

During his final years of service in Yew he met, fell in love with, and married Katherine Graven. A former Knight's Templar and a mage. Together they have four children, Sarah, Kat's from a former relationship and adopted by Tommy upon their marriage, twins Logan and Celestine and the newly arrived Danny.

[Into the depths of Shame]

Into the depths of Shame

...well, not that deep... it's more like... "Into Shame" to be exact!

After spending a some time this afternoon chatting with Sergio we eventually decided we had best do some work. I'd noticed an order laying around the barracks about killing some Kraken beast in the depths of Shame, so that's what we decided to do.

The trek to shame wasn't a difficult one though it took a fair while. My former home of Stonekeep was deserted as we past through, I had hoped to take the trip through to inform them of my my new career path, better they hear it from me direct than find out by chance or during an event I suppose.

As we fought our way through the lower levels, we chatted and joked. As we drew closer to the portal I told him of the time three Valorite Elements found their way into Stonekeep, he told me of the time a Verite Element had run amok through the Arcanists of Cove.

The fighting was fairly standard throughout the patrol. The worst came as we reached the Kraken and got jumped by half a dozen beasts. Water elements, rock beasts, a Kraken and a Sea Serpent. Still, we got through it alive and that's all that counts.

For the coffers of Cove we each returned with the sum of 7000 gold.
